Girl Arrested for Blasphemy In Pakistan

Girl arrested for blasphemy in Pakistan.

Seriously, **** Pakistan.

Janszoon 08-20-2012 10:18 AM

I wish I could be shocked by this but extremely insane religious people and extremely insane behavior go together like tits and Mardi Gras beads.

Unknown Soldier 08-20-2012 01:07 PM

Sounds just like another normal day is Pakistan.

Franco Pepe Kalle 08-20-2012 01:09 PM

Pakistan is a more anti-Western country than Iran and Afghanistan combined.

Iran? LOL C'mon Franco get back to class. Ever heard of the Wahhabi Sect? The article does say they will release her due to zero evidence of a Koran burning.

What difference does it make. Pakistan is the country where extremism is very liked than Iran. At least in Iran, you have some sanity. That is not the case with Pakistan.

Pakistan is actually considered our ally along with Afghanistan. You should brush up on your history and current events just saying.

Goofle 08-20-2012 02:00 PM

You guys hear about what happened with Pussy Riot? On my phone but I am sure a quick Google search would fill you in.

Iran and Pakistan are just different shades of grey. To actually suggest that one is more lenient than the other concerning western liberties, can only be down to personal observation rather than any obvious facts.

I know Pakistan is allies with US but it is not a country that US should trust the most or Afghanistan.

Goofle11,
what happened at the Pussy Riot?

Yes, that was also a crazy but completely unsurprising news story.

WWWP 08-20-2012 02:18 PM

Goofle 08-20-2012 02:36 PM

What governments are our allies and where terrorist group operate from are two different things. Franco mentioned Pakistan on the one hand as you pointed out they are our ally, but on the other hand there are terrorist organisations who pose a real & serious threat that control parts of Pakistan.

"It has been exploited by individuals to settle personal scores, to grab land, to violate the rights of non-Muslims, to basically harass them," said the head of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Zora Yusuf.
That is whole point of the article. It's not so much Pakistan, there are similar situations in Africa and the Middle East where non-muslims are being marginalized and persecuted.

I'm aware of Hezbollah and Al Qaeda being harbored in Pakistan. However Iran harbors both also, and Has been a huge supporter of Islamic terrorism dating back centuries, not just in the late 80s early 90's.

When you said this were you implying the TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) or some other terrorist organization? I was curious why you thought Pakistan is more anti-West.

I definitely want some religion that forms 1,000 years from now to be based on a film. But oh which one?

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure would make a good religious document.

That was actually here in the States in Arizona. Dude ran his daughter over with a car because she wouldn't date a Muslim. He showed her.

Actually, I think the case you were thinking of is probably the murder of Shafilea Ahmed, which happened in England.

This was big news here and it really finally highlighted some of the horrors that go on in these communities regarding things like arranged marriages. They only really go on in tight asian communites here, where having a daughter is often seen as being a financial burden on the parents if she fails to marry.

FETCHER. 08-22-2012 01:37 PM

I have no idea wither it was British or American. I don't read papers and don't watch the news.

The reason I'm guessing it was the English case was because you mentioned both parents being involved. In the American one Fred mentioned I think it was just the father.

I guess it depends on the news story, but I'd say we probably get more news from the UK than we do from any other country.

We get a whole load of stuff from the USA. It usually breaks down into various categories. 1) Proper news about what goes on there 2) Where are they going to invade next, as we'll have to get involved too 3) What are those crazy Americans upto now and we'll see some crazy footage about something from there.

Heh. Yeah, and I've always been under the impression that #3 is about 90% of it.

Definitely. So far every American member (Except Franco) goes against the grain of the stereotype.

It normally involves manic car chases with police cars and helicopters, people jumping into waterways in Florida that are frequented with alligators, crackpots that are visited by aliens, bible-belt fanatics who have just seen God and people dying from eating oversized hamburgers.

Gosh, I'd love to live over there and see some of this stuff first hand.
