As sarcastic as this is, I'm expecting comments like this. Or maybe comments about how we should arm teachers now.

I don't buy it. I've owned guns since I was 18 years of age. You can't blame the gun, but you can certainly blame the maniacs who decided to do this. You can't blame a car when somebody decides to drink and drive and takes anothers life.

There was an incident in Cali years ago where a guy decided to drive his car into an elementary school playground and killed 12 children at an Orange County Elementary School.

Gun Laws would only deter normal citizens like myself. Do you really think a criminal is gonna give up his gun, that would just leave Police Officers and Criminals packing a weapon.

I agree, but maybe we should start a separate thread on the subject.

Oh and they're reporting 29 now, including 22 children

Car's still serve a function other than killing stuff though. You're not going to ban car's when people use them improperly, but i mean getting rid of guns it's like who cares

This is where gun proponents need a reality check. Ok...YOU have used guns since you were 18. What about the mentally disturbed guy down the street? Just because you are stable and can handle the responsibility of gun ownership doesn't mean the majority of people are. That fact alone is enough to keep them out of people's hands altogether.

Why? It's completely relevant to this.

I hate to get into this... but cars and guns are kind of different, cars serve an extremely important purpose other than just inflicting harm. It's got to be about practicality, obviously we can't ban every possible harmful object.

Well thats just it, you aren't gonna get rid of guns. Criminals will still possess guns they bought illegally. Guys like me that go to Turners and Gun shops to buy guns and use them recreationally aren't gonna use them on people and we register our guns. Guys like this would still possess guns, because you aren't gonna go into someones house and audit their gun collection.

It's usually seen as disrespectful to turn a tragic event into a political agenda so soon after it happens. I just figured we could keep a respectful thread here and start a thread on the specific subject of gun control.
