I wasn't referring to the murder, but to the usual response of something like this by people and press alike, which usually revolves around trying to find the cure, rather than focusing on the prevention of a tragedy like this in the first place.

Exactly.

I'm not saying that this type of crime happens there but it's an unpleasant area to be in. Strangely enough even I've heard of Jane & Finch!

Ok fair enough, I've also noticed that the conspiracy crazies are also playing their usual role...

I too am one of those "sick bastards" who watch death videos (used to). Even before the teen movie about Marie Antoinette came out I was obsessed w/ the guillotine for about 3 yrs (pondering it nonstop) straight and read EVERYTHiNG I could about history involving decapitation including Henry Vlll biographies.

LOL

One of my elderly friends said to me recently that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. When it comes to taking another human life - I agree with that. Grudges scare me because it means we are going nowhere in evolution. It is one of the most primitive of human emotions I disapprove of.
Besides of all the innocents that have been proven so after their execution, even one makes it all not worth it.
But that doesn't mean I feel sorry for this killer. He has too much hate in him (I can tell in the photos) to get my sympathy, although a lot of passion-based murderers do.

Events like this always bring out the worst in people.

Wheras the vast majority are sensible enough not to make any generalisations, you always get some come out of hiding. And with social media, it seems all so easy to encounter it.

Over the last few days I have seen a photo of a muslim protest against our troops (and I'm not taking the side of these particular people) that someone has written "Go back to the desert" on, which is obviously the work of an intelligent individual. I've seen this shared with comments like "Rag heads" and "mussies" which makes me want to vomit, even if its just for the fact that these are people I have added on my Facebook, and I have also seen one person I know take a photo from the EDL march that came through our region the other day, that he went and joined.

OMG Same a lot of people thought I was some kind of freak because I've always been curious about serial killers/murderers/war crimes and **** like that but it is interesting to try to figure out what motivates people to do such horrible things to each other. I'm also fascinated by Henry the 8th's as a person, not to mention all the wives (Anne of Cleves and Anne Boleyn are most interesting to me, but also I think Katherine of Aragon was a tragic bs story & I liked Jane Seymour a lot too)

I feel sorry for him personally though, because I feel like he truly was at the end of his rope and he had to do something like this to get his way out (in his mind)
I think that's ****ing tragic and sad, personally.

I'm fascinated by serial killers and psychopaths in general. I always felt like I totally understood them, how they think, feel, all of that.

Wouldn't that make you a psychopath? I'm not sure how far empathic ability can go outside of a normally functioning brain.

I've talked about this. And also about my manipulation of treatments for anxiety (manipulation is a very typical symptom) HERE.

I simply think the minds of serial killers or rapists are fascinating but I'm not compelled to mimic their behaviour.

You should watch Hannibal imo, I think you'd really like it.
but yeah I agree with you, we can be fascinated by serial killers and the like but since we don't actively choose to act on impulses that may be harmful (not saying you'd kill anyone LOL) then we're not psychopaths ourselves.
