How does offering a cup of tea and biscuits to the EDL, disarm the radical veiws of Islamist preacher Omar Bakri and other likeminded people?

I was lucky that the school I was in, an elementary school that was Christian mind you, after the 9/11 attacks actually took time to teach us what Islam really was, looking back I didn't realise how important it truly was to learn about it that early.

People honestly know dick about Islam, I feel that most people don't even know that because of the government in Middle Eastern countries forces the schools to teach the more Fundamental kind of Islam.
Regarding the underlined, White people can also be Muslims. If we're going with the generally accepted definition of "White", that'd include Arabs, Persians, and various Central & South Asian groups (Nuristani, for example).

But, yes, of course any group can harbor terrorists.

What makes you think it was intended to do so, or that they are the extremist views he was talking about?

I don't understand your question.

The article did not mentioned the reason behind EDL protest or explain their views and whether they were extremist views or not. Was EDL there to protest the brutal murder of Lee Rigby? Honestly I don't know. But so soon after the incident you think there would be some correlation York mosque protest and Woolwich murder - maybe there is... maybe there isn't. Still it seems strange to me why reason the protest was left out in that article. It seems regardless of their intentions it should be automatically assumed wrong, and it's such a grand thing to offer them tea and biscuits. While on the other hand you some one like Omar Bakri who openly supports violent murder. And who is there to correct his views?

Maybe Shimon Peres should invite Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Isreal for some hamantaschen.

That's true about white people being Muslims too but mostly it's the brown people being targeted, since Sikhs get targeted as "terrorists" a lot too because they ~sort of~ look like Muslims.
