i agree it's the woman's choice and i actually agree with abortion being legal. i'm just ok with humans being killed for the sake of reproductive control. but pro-choicers need to stop playing these silly word games.

It's not a woman's choice in China, in most cases it is mandatory, and China has a higher suicide rate for women than any where else.

Does this apply if a man and woman are in a loving/committed relationship?

Sansa Stark 06-22-2014 11:13 AM

love doesn't mean you own someone though

Agreed, but I think the man's beliefs are at least worth considering at that point. No?

Ultimately, it's always the woman's decision (in the US).

Furthermore, the Chinese one child policy will lead to the situation where every tax payer has to support two elderly people. It's unsustainable. Maybe that's why the government is slowly easing off on the policy.

Not for a nanosecond

If you're not the one having the procedure the most and best thing you can do is support their decision.

I think he's talking about a committed relationship. Obviously he shouldn't have control over the abortion, but I think it's morally imperative on the woman to respect the trust of the relationship to at least tell the dude he procreated. Even if he wants an abortion too it's still a pretty big deal to have a kid. If a woman doesn't at least respect his feelings enough to let him know then that says a lot about their relationship.

But do you support women? Do you think it is wrong what is happening to all those Chinese women who have forced abortion? And what about the all the abortions that happen because the gender of the unborn was a deciding factor, when they find out "it's a girl" in parts of the world where women are not highly valued.
