I've dreamed of being called gringo all my life. Cracker has become stale. I just wish black people still said honky. How offensive is gringo supposed to be? Is it on the same level as puta, cabron, or maricon?

It's kinda like the equivalent of cracker, honky and foreign all into one.

But how offensively should I take it? Cause if a black guy calls me a cracker, it's generally all in good fun. And nobody has used honky since George Jefferson.

idk dude it's all in the context and the attitude in which it is said.

usually it's not meant to be that hurtful, it's just a slight jab at your ethnicity, so just be cool if someone says it you and don't make it a big deal.

I've been called it a lot and from multiple different people and it was never meant offensively.

The 2 ladies I used to open boxes with at the Gap
A couple friends
Some of the guys I shot pool with at a Spanish bar
My cousin's wife's family

I feel like if it's meant to be offensive you will know.

i've had people shout it at me from moving cars

they certainly intended to offend me

at the time, they did. cause i was young and eager for approval.it wasn't like i was offended at the term cracker. i just resented having to be white.

but as an adult i don't really care about the term because its silly. even if it's intended maliciously i'll only get a chuckle out of it.
