ebola
at this rate would kill approximately 1.4 million people. Sierra Leone needs 750 more doctors, 2000+ nurses and hygienists. 1/20 of medical staff over there have died.
It transmitted via blood transfusion. Once infected you have between a few days and couple weeks before dying. 70% of infected die. Scary stuff eh What kind off reactions do mb community members have? Does your country have any cases? To my dear elder's, how does this compare to previous outbreaks you may have been aware of or have some form of encounter with? Please limit "people die all the time from stuff" "more people die from this or that" responses attempting to minimize the severity of this |
I live in the US where we have adequate sanitation and medical facilities, unlike west Africa where it is a genuine threat, and I have no plans to go find someone infected with ebola and have them take a **** on me, so as of right now I'm not too worried.

Well yeah
might be comforting to not be threatened by it but it's still something to worry about. You know, other people's lives and whatnot. Kind of a big deal. I was following the stories via NPR when it first broke out for a few weeks and was horrified. Not just by the disease but also the ensuing violence. I'm not sure if that's still going on but it's pretty fvcked up and really makes me wonder what could be done to help educate these people at least to a point where they understand the people trying to help them aren't the enemy. I remember there being mentioned something about a vaccine being underway... is that still in progress? idk. Something else I was thinking about... Really, after the first 2 weeks coverage seemed to really dissipate. It's strange that when something small scale like, the bird flu (not that it wasn't harmful), hits the US it's all anyone talks about and everyone's in panic mode because it's so completely sensationalized and then when something like this happens, something genuinely terrifying, it kinda just blows over. |
Our government is up to it's old tricks again.... :usehead:
Seriously though. It's gonna make for some amazing conspiracy theories. Other than that, exactly what Mondo said. It doesn't affect me in the slightest. |
mfw I realize that the product I touch every day could probably come from Texas someday and nobody even knows what the fuck has touched that shit
