Damn straight. Great for your eyes - we spend way too much time looking at up close ****. Walking allows you to focus on stuff far away. (my eye doctor is a huge advocate). Plus gives you some time alone inside of your head. The fresh air and exercise is just icing on the cake.

I used to practice Zazen, and Tai Chi. But, that was a long time ago. Beer is my meditation these days.

Regarding meditation and the notion one should cease thinking. I'm not sure whether it's possible to stop thinking (I know I can't do it), but it is possible to let thoughts come and go without chasing, exploring, engaging, fearing or judging them. It's about becoming a witness to your thought process. It takes practice to create that gap between the witness and the mind but once the gap is there, the penny drops, you realise that you are not the mind, that you are the witness, a watcher.
