Summation of the RNC so far.

1. Super secret emails.
2. Public server.
3. Benghazi.
4. Untrustworthy.
5. Behind bars.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

And talk about dragging out the B-list.

^ Thanks to Mrs. Trump's speech, people are listening again to Michelle Obama, and placed side by side like this Mrs. Obama is clearly the original and better speaker. IMO Mrs. Trump suffers by the comparison.

Totally 1000% planned and executed for media whoring. I wouldn't be surprised if the Trump campaign was the one who wrote the press release drawing the comparison.

Precisely my thoughts on it. It's not a coincidence. It was planned.

^ Surprised at your reactions that it was planned. Why would the Trump campaign want Mrs. Trump to be ridiculed world-wide, and be labeled "speech thief," as I saw somewhere on the internet ? Plagarism this obvious does a lot of permanent damage to Mrs. T's integrity and to the Trump campaign speechwriters. I think the only way for them to escape the charge of dishonesty is to plead incompetence, so they are in a lose-lose situation aren't they? Why plan your way into a PR disaster like that?

Frownland 07-19-2016 08:34 PM

I elaborate a bit more in these posts. The main theme is that negative publicity does not equal a PR disaster because Trump's rise to power is built on things that would be PR disasters for anyone else.

It's especially obvious since I'm fairly certain that Trump wouldn't be where he is without all of the negative publicity following him through his campaign. It's his key tactic to build recognition (which, in the end, is more important than policy, race, party, or any other reason people vote for someone).

Well duh, that's the most important part of being a demagogue.

Also this whole ordeal is better publicity than if the media were to do some honest to god reporting and actually talk about the content of the speeches.

Lisnaholic 07-19-2016 09:03 PM

^ Well, I see your point, especially the one about distracting attention from the actual content of the speeches, but I'm not entirely convinced.
Yes, Trump seems to relish negative publicity, but isn't most of it about saying something outrageous to appeal to extremists and catch more votes? They aren't going to catch many votes by copying a Democrat's speech, and then denying it:-

[Trump campaign]Staff said there was no evidence Mrs Trump had lifted passages from a 2008 speech by First Lady Michelle Obama.
