To be honest, people rallying for ANYONE to be their leader actually really is creepy.

I get your joke as well but tossing up peace signs and making a pledge to the candidate looks and feels different.

Let's be honest, when it comes to this specific thing, it's not the pledge that has people making Hitler comparisons, it's the imagery. There are plenty of ways to compare Trump's supporters to Brownshirts, but some pic that looks like they're all Zieg Heiling is not one of them.
