^ Haha! I noticed that as well - that William the B is taking a classic nimby position. (In case "nimby" is a British-only acronym, it means a person who says, "Yes we need a new sewage-processing plant, but not in my back yard.")

As the debate has swung round to population density, may I be tedious and re-post two maps that together clearly show that the majority of Syrian refugees are heading to countries that already have some of the highest population densities in the world. Britain, Europe in general and Lebanon are all suffering from this topsy-turvy logic.

Spoiler for population maps:

I can disagree with someone's politics and still like them as a person.

Also why have you been ignoring me lately? Send a brother a text back or something.

Yeah watch it when you get the chance.

Definitely not the best impression of him.

There not contortions Janzoon, and I'm not undermining my point on population density in Canada. I am providing you with facts based on primary sources. Canada's population is huddled along the Canadian border because most of its too cold and inhabitable no one wants to live in the North.

The population is not distributed uniformly throughout Canada's territory. The vast majority of people who make up the population of Canada live in the southern part of the country, near the American border, leaving the northern areas largely uninhabited.

Canadian Demographics at a Glance: Provinces and regions

I am not an ideologue Janzoon, my opinion can be shifted on any topic. For instance, I'm against Trump's wall, I'm against deporting illegal migrants in your country, and I have been musing the idea that it would be better to erase the Canadian & Mexican borders and create a North American free trade zone block.

In contrast I'd be happy to have someone on this forum throw up sources that blow my argument out of the water...but I guess I'll be waiting a little while longer.

@WtB I don't know if you answered my NI question, sorry if you did, can't be bothered to search through pages of posts.

What makes you think that NI would vote to reunify with the Republic? The only way I could see a split from the UK would be if it became an independent Ulster, but joining Ireland, I can't see it.

lol. Do you think the population of the US is uniformly distributed? Do you think the population of any country is?

Of course not, but because of your climate people in the United States can settle wherever they like. In Canada where all huddled along the US border because no wants to wake up in the morning to -20/-40 weather. It sucks up there.

Of course one could argue about what exactly constitutes multiculturalism but in my opinion the following, fundamentally flawed, premises are at the heart of that ideology:
No harmful and undesirable behaviours and attitudes are ever attributed to culture, instead stubbornly being chalked up to just economic factors and discrimination.
Assimilation into the host culture, and therefore laws and regulations which would ensure said assimilation, are not regarded as necessary.

Our climate, singular? You really think the US has one unified pleasant climate and people "can settle wherever"? lol

Your whole point about population density is a bit of a non sequitur anyway. The people in the dense urban areas are the ones more likely to support immigration in the US and UK, and probably in Canada as well.
