Does this mean that Britain looks like a bunch of morons who don't know what they want and the rest of Europe is going to ignore anything they say because they don't even know if they want to be here?

I'm pretty sure that in a second referendum the Remainers would win, because the last two years have demonstrated how Brexit politicians have so often promised things that are either unobtainable or economic suicide. Still in my mind is a soundbite from someone who voted for Brexit: the day after the referendum she said, "I never expected Leave to win. Now I wish I'd voted Remain." :banghead:

Like Little Miss Banghead above, I think quite a few people would secretly like a chance to reconsider their original votes. To discover how many, why don't we have a referendum about having a second referendum?

There's no reason not to have a second referendum now that the deal has been finalised and rejected.

Yep, I'm beginning to see it as the best way forward at this point. Two years back a second ref was fairly criticised as sounding like, "I didn't like the first result. Do it again until I get the result I want." But now, two years down the road, that argument is not so valid: we've had 2 yrs of learning what Brexit might mean, so a re-appraisal makes sense.

With luck, a second ref would show a clear majority for Remain. If it's just a near thing, people will start demanding a "best of three" decider, which even to me begins to sound like taking democracy a little too far.

We had a referendum on membership decades ago and the result was in favour so if it's only one referendum then the BREXIT MEANS BREXIT lot must accept that the second one in 2016 is null and void.
