Why do you think the UK is better off in the EU?

I don't ****ing care enough to research it tbh but I'd say they're better off not diving off a cliff without looking just because their version of rednecks shouted their version of "MURICA!!!" ATM I'm just excited to see what happens when they hit bottom cause it's this weird, very high stakes experiment in direct democracy where the country was absolutely not prepared in any meaningful way for that experiment and it seems to be laying bare just how ridiculous and incompetent people are in making decisions on any basis larger than their own lives.

Why does it? The Remain vote is clearly split among several parties. Brexit Party looks on course to get a vote share of around 30%. The Remain vote will surely be higher than that if we are assuming SNP, Plaid, Greens and Lib Dem are Remain votes (which they are). I think it's fair to say a majority of Labour and Tory votes will be also, as pretty much anyone who is in favour of Brexit will just vote for the Brexit Party.

I'll post more about it tomorrow when the results are in.

Immigration is a concern to many people in the UK, but it's not necessarily linked to anti-Muslim sentiment. To me, it's not so much about cultures and Muslims, it's about sheer numbers and infrastructure. Here are some world population stats:-

Average world pop density: 59 people per sq. km
UK pop density: 275 per sq. km
USA for comparison purposes: 36 per sq. km

Our pop density is 4.5 times the world average, 7.5 times that of the USA. Faced with those figures, it makes sense to put strict limits on immigration imo. After all, the UK isn't agriculturally self-sufficient, it has a housing shortage and overburdened systems of education and health. It's a small island with more than enough people on it already. That's partly why many people worry about politicians in Brussels dictating an immigration policy to us that is more open than we'd like. Brexiteers, of course, exploit that fear in a xenophobic way which cranks up their popularity, but only because Remainers are turning a blind eye to a situation that is not just statistical, but perceived on the ground every day: why is everywhere I go so crowded?

Dear Hawk,

Cultures don't exist in a vacuum.

Even those tiny culturally stagnant isolated inbred micronations that like to shoot arrows at moronic missionaries didn't just pop into existence one day

90% of everything cool in a given culture was caused or at least greatly influenced by its interactions with other cultures

It can't stop, and it won't stop, regardless of how many arbitrary borders scared rich people constantly throw up in an effort to divert attention from the fact that they do no actual work yet have control over virtually all of the revenue

Sincerely,
Deal with it
