And a large portion of the middle east is as modernized as any western country. But they have their slums and backwards areas just like we do here in the US.

I agree with most of what you are saying except for the parts of the middle east that practice Shari Law and are the except opposite of any western country.

And I'm pointing out that you're using a double standard for judging both Christianity and Islam, which is pretty common in the West, since Christianity is "our" religion and therefore "ours" to talk about as we see fit, whereas Islam is "their" religion, and we start getting antsy about taking liberties with other people's stuff.

That wasn't really the point though.
I just threw some arguments at him that liberals use against people who dare criticise Islam.
In my book conservative Christians who attack Islam while not seeing anything wrong with their own religion are as much ****ing hypocrites as liberals who freely **** all over Christianity while going out of their way to defend Islam.
