My opinion is based on anecdotal experiences and documentaries, tv, blogs, etc about or by transgender people. It is almost always explained as a feeling or deep-rooted in that persons psychology. You don't have to have the same genes as the thing you are identifying with, and it's not up to me to decide what is and isn't crazy or insane (Those words are commonly defined by society or big pharmaceuticals with little objectivity).

It's not a matter of a person thinking they are actually a dog, or a baby, or whatever. It's the thought they should be and act on it to as much as humanly possible. I think it's a psychological issue that could probably be objectively answered given enough research. If we knew it was a gene problem then I'd probably agree with you, but when it comes to psychology I'd say anything is fair game.. the mind is limitless in creativity.

The mind is not limitless. It does not have the capacity to calculate Pi infinitely. That is feelgood bull****. If someone says that they are a dog, or that they were a dog in a previous life or what-the-**** ever, then they should be able to demonstrate that they are capable of imitating a dog to a degree that is psychologically or scientifically relevant.

If I claim that I am Darth Vader, and I do not have any evidence to back it up, should I be taken seriously? If I claim that I am the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler, and I do not have any evidence to back it up, should I be taken seriously? So why should I be seriously if I say that I am a dog, if I do not have any evidence to back it up?

Why can we not just say that these people are psychologically aberrant?

I think where we come to a standstill is that you require them to be physically capable of demonstrating their psychology, while I am willing to accept that they can not, but may be telling the truth otherwise. I don't even think they would have to demonstrate the psychology of a dog, instead the psychology of how a human perceives a dog's psychology.

I'm not denying that it's aberrant, but that doesn't mean insane to me.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and a human having the psychology of a dog or a horse is an extraordinary claim.

It's not just dogs, cats, and lizards though. There's people who seriously claim to be plants, fictional Anime characters, dragons, and other things of the sort.

Am I really being taken to task on why this isn't bull****? Some people seem to think that the right wing bent of this site is reaching an all-time high, but when I'm being forced to explain why people aren't animals, I say that WTF?

it is ****ing ridiculous

i'm also 100% with transgender people but i completely disagree with parents helping their kids transition while they are still developing

i mean if a little boy identifies as a little girl ok let him/her wear what wants, or play with whatever toys he/she wants to but to put them on hormones or have them go through surgery while they are still under 18 and might regret doing something so drastic later in life just doesn't seem right imo

its not doubt its just that transitioning physically seems like such a huge step to take as a child.
