Well heard "their" story, hear them talk about themselves. Maybe Mr Rodgers meant if for ordinary people that some while they have rough exterior, however they are good people inside. Not that every people you meet are %100 perfect.

In the quote, Rogers says anyone. Hitler is included in that.
