Oh really? Is that why popes throughout history had their own private armies, ordered Crusades and generally tried to run every country from Rome? For hundreds of years the Church was the most powerful single entity in the world, and had its bejewelled fingers in the government of every Christian country, to the point where they could basically order kings to do what the Pope wanted, or they'd be excommunicated. You call that separation of Church and State? And what about Henry VIII?
