Irrational fear is a terrible cornerstone for a presidency.

There's nothing irrational about wanting to limit immigration, or starting with the most radical and unsuccessfully integrated nations. I suppose it depends on your perspective.

It is irrational when it's an attempt to fix a non-issue for our country based off of a subsection of their population. I remember when we limited German immigration in the 30s. That one looks good in history textbooks, I'm sure this one will too.

Immigration is a big issue in the US, with most wanting a huge decrease. Trump happens to land on the side of the fence that wants to limit it as much as is arguably reasonable. If you don't like him banning immigrants from specific Muslim majority countries, fine. But for those who do believe that it may limit the spread of radical Islam, two birds, one stone.

It really is a nonissue for our country ATM though, no matter how scared some people are. We have much much bigger fish to fry.

It's not an issue at the moment... are you suggesting it could become a bigger issue?

Many fish can fry at the same time.

Yes, I could see it being a problem if, for example, the entire population of China immigrated to Rhode Island but as of now and most likely the immediate future, people are scared of imaginary monsters when it comes to immigration.

Time to smack him around before he passes this, Mattis. That's what you're here for.

But that presupposes that every immigrant coming from an Islamic country is a militant. What about those who are not, but are fleeing war and trying to survive and protect their children? Old issue, old argument I know, but still valid.

Even aside from the contents of all these executive orders, what are everybody's thoughts on Trump's seeming desire to alter so much policy on his own without consulting or trying to work with Congress? I'm getting wannabe dictator vibes at the moment, but I don't like jumping to conclusions.
