I'm thinking that 2018 may be more of an uplifting year for the country in some ways with some justice hopefully being served and a midterm election turnaround. How much this shows thru the body politic, it's a bit hazy, but one could hope and act in ways to hasten this.To keep it in Nixonian perspective, it took something like 9 or 10 months after the Saturday Night Massacre before we had the guy resign. Of course, we then had the bumbling Ford to contend with.

Anyone catch this this morning?

Rex Tillerson formerly welcoming top Russian official Sergie Lavrov in front of the press this morning. As they both turn to walk away a reporter asks Tillerson loudly about the Comey firing. Lavrov looks startled then turns back and asks the reporter: He was fired? After being told yes he says: You're joking? Then looks kinda disgusted and walks away while shaking his head.

I assume he was on a plane all night and hadn't been told about it. Tillerson looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole and die.

Ya, ya it was a joke. Just trying to be overly dramatic.

This is Trump's Saturday Night Massacre. He's flailing. One thing he clearly didn't think of - the FBI is incredibly loyal to Comey. And that's on top of the subpoenas that were issued for Flynn hours before he fired Comey.
OK guys thanks for that. So is it true to say that in terms of numbers of people fired, replaced or resigning, there has been no precedent before such as this? In terms of actual numbers, and looking at how soon Trump is into his presidency at this point?

This is a moment that will be in the history books. From here, we go one of two ways. One, republicans finally realize they need to get off the Trump train and there is bipartisan support for an independent investigation. Or, they continue to bury their heads in the sand, Trump realizes he truly can get away with anything he wants, and then it's officially Trumpland.
Bolded ftw I fear.

No. No it was not. It was sad and terrible.

Yes, true - and you can expect the same from President Pence if impeachment/resignation were to happen again.

The path is then clear: assassination is the only way to go.

I'd say the Dems would like Pence a lot better than Trump at this point: at least he's got something resembling a track record in government and is possible to reason with.

...or we can just wait for The Rock.

The Independent.co UK - The Rock is seriously considering running for president
