Please. Firstly he spent about 2.5 minutes focusing on Trump. Secondly, Trump must have known fully well what he'd be walking into to. And lastly, Trump was chuckling and nodding in approval at Obama's jabs.

Secondly, this incident is what incited Trump to seriously run for office in the first place, which is why we are in this situation in the first place. So you could make the argument that Obama made a huge mistake by doing something that was fairly unpresidential by his standards.
Please. It's a comedy roast. No person or subject is off limits. Obama was absolutely brilliant at them. The dude could easily have been a comedian. Check out the episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with Obama and Seinfeld. Guy's a natural.

Your Trump apologist persona once again bubbles up to the surface.

Yeah, I don't see how you could be blaming Obama for everything Trump does.

I also don't see how people can twist Trump not doing this dinner into him being a fascist.

People are stupid.

Edit: Let me rephrase that, people are desperate.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

^ Thanks, that's an interesting clip. He looked a lot younger then, but the way he stayed so professional under pressure is impressive.

Your edit makes this a pretty funny post Lucem!
I agree that not attending a dinner is hardly a fascist stance, though it does send a pretty negative message; it's like if you boss won't go to the office party at Christmas. Everybody thinks, "What's this guy's problem?"

My recommendation is don't worry about the dinner, but worry about this description of a nation...

Is that Dan Rather's description of Trump's America? No, it's Churchill's description of Germany during Hitler's rise to power.

Nope. It wasn't just 2.5 minutes (plus Seth Meyers got up on stage also) and no, he didn't know what he was walking into. Knowing Trump's personality, be honest here: do you really think he took it well? You guys talk about how thin skinned he is all the time. Was there some magical time where Trump was not thin skinned?

Harhar. Yeah it was funny, and Obama is a funny / charming dude. But you wake up every day and now the guy who wanted revenge for public humiliation is now your President. Asking you to use your brain for critical thinking doesn't make me a Trump apologist. I don't like the guy and I voted for Obama....but I think what he did in retrospect was unbelievably stupid. He had a prominent hand in creating the environment that gave Trump the motivation to run and the opportunity to win, and that's a fact. Again: you are the one with an inconsistent view on Trump. Do I need to lecture you on how his personality works, or are you savvy enough to connect the dots yourself?

I've seen plenty of editorials on both sides of this fence, but it should be obvious that I'm correct if everything we've seen about Trump's personality has always been what it is.

Also lol at Obama.
It's stupid hype that deflects attention away from any of Trump's actions that might actually matter to the American people.

You obviously haven't seen his Comedy Central roast.

Especially Holocaust humor.

Surprised at the lack of comedic skills coming out from people on the left poking fun at him as of late. Maybe dipping your face in cheeto dust will show him.

Not surprised he decided not to show up to the correspondence dinner. Sounds like there's going to be a poor turn out, celebrities that hate his guts and the press. Funny how people are making a fuss out of this.
