He was a hell of a player.

I don't know his politics, other than what was posted here.

From personal experience, it appears that celebrities (fake or otherwise) stand a good chance of getting elected.

Good luck to the voters in that neck of the woods.

^ I didn't know that about his reputation as a player, music_collector. I feel that he shouldn't have stepped so far away from his area of expertise, but unfortunately there are new rules about political candidates these days:
i) no need to be smart or coherent
ii) if you are a face already familiar from tv, you will get plenty of votes

Yes, that's a rather weak campaign strategy, but with Dems fighting uphill against gerrymandering and the electoral college, they need to go with anything they can.

You're right about that. It's all too common in the west.

As for the UK temperatures rising, I'm not surprised. Does this mean the assumed idea of it always raining there will disappear?

HaHa! Yes, music_collector, we Brits will have to chuck out the umbrella and bowler hat and find a new stereotype.

On this CNN news clip, the title "lashes out" is a bit of click-bait exaggeration, but in other respects the clip seems to be quite a good summary of (i) where we are now with climate change and (ii) our attitude to being in this situation.

Sorry to be so depressing, but I suppose my attitude is similar to the meteorologists: "Stay worried, people, it's only going to get worse"

I seen this clip and I was actually astounded at how ignorant the reporters were. 40 degree heat in the UK is not ****ing normal in the slightest.

Any Green New Deal talk on CNN? I'm guessing no. Reality doesn't mean their advertisers want that kind of talk on television.

Yes, FETCHER, 40 degrees in UK is off-the-scale weird, but as so often with climate news, UK media sources just shrug it it off with a light-hearted, "Wacky weather this weekend" segment. I think this approach is more pronounced in the UK, where we have a traditional pride in the (non-threatening) quirks of our weather.
In contrast, in the US, they have forever been reporting on deadly, and deadly serious, weather events: tornadoes, hurricanes, bushfires, etc.

I'm guessing, "no", Batlord. Good point about not upsetting the advertisers!

I mean the reality is that we're probably gonna have to overcome all that money by dragging some billionaires and millionaires out of their mansions and beating them to death and before we're ready to do that they're gonna dictate how this goes.

WEF apparently wants us all to ditch our vehicles. We must all own private jets or something...
