it's not just that I'm worried about a fascist crackdown. Just that am authoritarian style overreaction is one of the many common predictable consequences of terrorism.

There's also the fact that you are likely to cause death, destruction, panic, potential copy cats, etc. There's just a lot of reasons why terrorism is a reckless approach to virtually all problems.

So yeah.. Any of those things can also happen to one degree or another without terrorism. But that's not really a justification imo

Thousands of fish killed by toxic red tide wash ashore on Florida beaches

Believed to be severely exacerbated by runoff.

It's a natural occurrence, but it's more brutal because the algae is feeding off of fertilizer from courses, sewage, the Piney Point leak, and other stuff that's not normally in the water.

Drought-choked Colorado River faces an unprecedented water shortage

The reservoirs where I live are at record lows as well.

Yeah I'm aware. Same two years ago. Probably multiple times in the past as well.

I guess you gotta give the people what they want. And what they want is invasive murder pigs.

That was an interesting video, jwb. I learned something about how to castrate a hippo, although I don't expect to be applying that knowledge any time soon. But for once, this thread is enlivened with an environmental problem that seems to have a simple, achievable solution.

Not so lucky with this one, and similar or worse water shortages in the Middle East, Pakistan, India:

Water wars are going to get ugly, and have already prompted the migration of many climate refugees. I read an analysis that said the recent civil war in Syria was prompted by the hardships endured by drought; people could tolerate the Syrian regime until the water ran out.
