He was a working class man by origin who ran a fierce campaign that was not threatened by counter-revolutionaries. In an equivalent situation in America, Bezos definitely would not survive. Nor would his family. And no one would dare say ****. Wouldn’t even have a ****ing funeral.

And that accomplished nothing except put the means of production in the hands of different rich people.

That's nice. If all you needed to set up a utopia was revenge killings then Nazi Germany was a missed opportunity.

maybe not in your case, but one form of direct democracy is voting directly on policy initiatives. It's this form that people would point towards in a country like Switzerland, for example. So I don't think it's really mutually exclusive with the idea of a nation state.

As for unweildy, it doesn't seem less workable than the kind of completely decentralized global order you are speaking of. If anything I'd say the opposite is true.

Our current political systems cannot take us another century as a species so clinging on to the status quo is infinitely more naive than embracing radical change.
Even if the current system is unsustainable long term, that doesn' necessarily mean it can be replaced with just anything

I'm not even saying "that could never happen" I'm saying I don't see it personally. The moral imperative collapses for me when you aren't presenting a true option out. It's very similar to me to when libertarians say taxation is theft. And so what if it is? I believe that any form of advanced society is and has always been built on top of a foundation of coercive force. I'm happy to discuss other possibilities, I just won't accept them unquestioningly.

that was the idea in the Soviet and Soviet-esque societies too. I actually have some strange type of sympathy for that impulse on some level as well but it goes without saying that totalitarians never willingly relinquish power once they get it. So the dream that it's a stepping stone to true democracy is just that - a dream. It's much more likely that democracy is yet another stepping stone to authoritarianism.
