If nobody did it it wouldn’t get done. If the owner wanted it done he’d have to do it. It’s called setting an example. Allowing yourself to be exploited allows others to be exploited. It’s your DUTY to draw the line. Otherwise the extra this and that never stops for anyone.

Doesn't sound like you're setting an example. Just sounds like you're doing what you want to do. And yes, the extra this and that does stop. That's what discretion is for. Might still get you fired and you have to have the balls to take that L but that doesn't mean you abandon co-workers as a black and white hard line.

I want none of it cause I see the psychological effect being a manager has on even perfectly good people and how it encourages them to turn on their fellow employees. I want none of it cause I have no desire to even pretend to take corporate edicts seriously. I want none of it cause I'd be **** at the job and be self-conscious about being **** at it. I want none of it cause exercising fake authority on people would make me feel like an *******. I want none of it cause I'd end up having to punish people for things I don't think they should have to do in the first place. I want none of it cause I'm lazy.

That doesn't mean I don't have a desire to help my fellow worker to make their day easier.
