You do for the first round only. After that the gun reloads the chamber automatically until the clip is empty. At that point the slide locks open.

why don't you just get a loud dog

We have 2 very big and loud dogs. The gun is really part of our disaster plan. If we ever get hit with the "big one" there's no telling how long it'll take to get things back to normal. We have food, water, and supplies to last us a month. I'm pretty sure most of the neighborhood is nowhere near as prepared.

Self preservation 101.

Troll, if the gun is 100% empty then just inserting a clip doesn't put the gun in "ready" mode. To have to pull back the slide and then release it to pull a bullet from the clip and place it in the chamber in front of the firing pin.

In order to insure the gun is completely unloaded you first have to remove the clip and then rack the slide to remove the bullet that's in the chamber.

Terry Kath killed himself by not doing the 2nd step. He removed the clip, told his buddy "see it's not loaded", and then put it to his head and pulled the trigger.

Cool. I admitted I knew and know **** all about guns, nor I guess do I particularly want or need to. Thanks for the info. Who's Terry Kath?
Kinda like this guy, huh?

Shame on you. Original guitarist and lead singer of Chicago. If you don't have it pick up Chicago V.

Well sure, if you end up firing it. One thing that blew my mind the first time I went to the range was how loud guns are in real life. I have a Glock G19 (the most popular handgun with law enforcement in the world) and it is ****ing loud! And I was outdoors! And one point I heard this explosion and looked over to see a guy holding a Smith & Wessen 500 Magnum.

I've been to a shooting range once with a friend who had an AK-47 and rented a Glock. Holding a rifle like an AK-47 is awkward as **** cause they are heavy, and they got mad kick. I looked like someone had left a bruise from a jackhammer on my shoulder for a week.

The recoil made me hit myself in the face the first time I shot a glock at 7. Good times.

I was raised as a redneck in Yosemite and that's why I hate the whites so much.

Glocks are awesome. They are so easy to spot becasue of the uniquely shaped trigger guard. Most handruns have rounded guards. The Glock has that point at the tip.

Next time you're watching movies look for it. It's amazing how many Glocks Hollywood uses.
