I think you don't know coal miners. There's a culture around it, their great great grandfathers did it. The one's who didn't want black lung left. The ones who got blacklung left, and the ones who got laid off left.

The remaining coal miners are just thankful to have a job. You can't tell them anything. You need to show them that it's a viable option in their area. Start with the unemployed. Debates are useless.

With mountain top removal, strip mining, and fracking all those rural people in coal country are unemployed and up to their nuts in cancer and covid and diabetes and heart disease and pre-existings up the ass.

I have ****loads of relatives from coal-**** Kentucky. All they do there now is pop oxy and smoke meth. None of them left because they never had a ****ing dime. Not one of them mines coal any more.
