Those protections have been gone for a while now and yet the Dems have shown no urgency to do anything about it. In other words that was then and this is now.

thing is they don't support those programs but they support lite versions of them that to a republican or independent are almost equally distasteful so they still get the stigma without having the balls to give a real endorsement

And you know what? We all mocked you (rightfully I think for that first offer on a second stimulus from the right cause it was nothing with ****ty strings attached and even you agreed it was bull**** after a couple days) but in the end you were right. The Dems should have caved. After that first stimulus withe deaths mounting and Trump's mismanagement making the political calculus fall further and further on the Dems' side to let Trump eat the fallout for no stimulus they just had no incentive to cave. Excepr of course to help actual human beings who were suffering but clearly that's not on their political radar.

I don't think the second one was really ever on offer by the Republicans iirc. I thought they were basically offering some scaled down continuation of unemployment and **** like that... Not a second round of $1200 stimulus payments

I honestly don't remember much but I believe they were offering like $600 checks with strings attached but I'd have to go look it up and we both know I'm not doing that.
