I'm not sure there's much of an alternative to dealing with the logic of self preservation, with regard to geopolitics.

I don't think it's in the interest of NK to start a war. I think they see most of the posturing they do as a necessary defensive measure and deterrent.

In any case I don't think anyone has a clear plan to stop them from being a full nuclear power. So the question to me is what kinda relationship you want to have/how antagonistic do you wanna be.
