Why wouldn't the Left pat themselves on the back if that's true?

Just enjoying the show. In immediate hindsight though, I didn't bring enough popcorn.

I think this might just be reinforcing that there is no going back to center right politics.
Funny, use to be you could section parties using only a few shades of either red or blue. With the current GOP, (at least in the House) you need a ****ing Pantone chart to define all the quasi-factions.

WTF happened today? By all reports there was going to be MAYBE 4-5 hard no votes and maybe double that dissenters the first round.

Instead you get 19 NOs split between a number of folks. Jordon implores the handful who voted for him to switch to McCarty.

Instead McCarty gets 1 less vote the 2nd round and Jordon gets 20!?!?!?!? wash, rinse, repeat for round 3.

Kevin's pounding back a 5th and breaking all kinds of furniture tonight for sure.

lol

Would you say you are an accelerationist? Because it seems like you consistently advocate for escalation without any sort of regard for potential consequences.

Because if the right aren't coming back to the bargaining table but are instead doubling down on anti-democratic voter suppression on the state level where they hold majorities then how are you winning? This might be some satisfying theater but it might also gain you nothing.

The independent state legislature theory sounds like it's not impressing the Supreme Court but that's a dodged bullet rather any actual ground gained.

Who is that?

Sure, but I think the back pating might be related to the fact that the only thing the House is going to achieve this time around is botching the 2024 election for their party. They have zero discipline, they're going to say things the candidate has to answer for, and the general public will sour on them fast. It's almost guaranteed they'll shut down the government. And that always goes wrong.

I assume you're kidding, but if not it's Kevin McCarthy. Would-be speaker and former Minority leader.

Yesterday was pretty laughable, wasn't it?

But we may not be laughing for long if the few reasonable Repubs left don't/can't make a deal with the Dems. It won't be long before we have to deal with the debt ceiling again and the far right seems to be intent of destroying the country so they can "make America great again."

But it is fun to see McCarthy squirm, isn't it?

Chula Vista 01-04-2023 11:20 AM

McCarthy and his top allies wanted to scuttle any votes today - but they couldn't get the votes to do it.

TheBig3 01-04-2023 12:37 PM

I'm starting to feel bad for this poor bastard. He sold his soul to be the king and now the pitchforks are at the gate.

Trollheart 01-04-2023 12:45 PM

I'd feel sorry for Putin before I'd feel sorry for McCarthy. This is the **** who was AT THE CAPITOL when they were being attacked, hiding under a desk, begging Trump to call it off, and STILL backed him when it came to the investigation. May he burn in Hell. ****'s getting exactly what he deserves. You sell your soul to Trump, he wipes his arse with it and hands it back to you to eat.
