Don't you think it's a little dishonest to point out the loss of money on a 20-year war ending given that it's been a money pit since 2001?

From the article...

Quote:
The US has spent an estimated $2.313 trillion on the war since invading Afghanistan, according to the Watson Institute’s Costs of War — or $300 million a day, Biden said Tuesday.

It is rather mind-boggling. I'd like to know how much was wasted on corruption and lining the pockets of the well-connected back in the USA.

Yeah, but still the number „300 milion $ a day” is unbelievable

Right but my point is, we should all be celebrating the end of a $300 million a day war.

It was a war
Bu was it recently a war though? Wasn't it more like the Empire fighting off the Rebel Alliance?
[doesn't matter that much in a global vision – but is still a pain in the ass]

still: what did the 300 million dollars actually fund? It's an absurdly big number. I'm sure bombs and pay checks for the soldiers don't make that much
For 300million dollars I could buy 400 apartments like the one I live in currently. And it's situated in the most expensive borough of Warsaw.

Bribes to keep Afghan warlords on our side, military contractors like Raytheon and Lockheed Martin (probably the majority), various boondoggle infrastructure projects that amounted to nothing, and just general graft. People talk about the open corruption and theft of the Trump administration but they're children compared to what the Bush administration set up in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Some of that money at least went back into the US economy through wages to military personell, the buying of services and equipment from US based providers etc. but maybe less than you'd like.

In loss vs. gains, it seems pretty bad.
