I think the issue is that they're putting their message in a bite sized package that doesn't allow a single post to be as objective and accurate as it could be.

Well, anytime you have Moms involved it's going to get sappy. I'm just going off of the Everytown for Gun Safety site.

And what Elph said. Most people are not aware of the numbers when people bring up topics like gun violence, gun safety, or gun carelessness.

Did you read the part where I said the "source" links lead to their own website? They don't use third party sourcing, ergo, those statements are unverifiable.

There's a difference between involving mothers and deliberating targeting their fear for their children's safety in order to swell your numbers. That's disgusting and I believe unethical.

Just saw a poll where they listed Trump's approval rating by state.

Top 5 with the lowest approval ratings:

Vermont
Massachusetts
Maryland
California
New York

Combined population: 72.45 million

Top 5 highest approval ratings:

West Virginia
North Dakota
South Dakota
Montana
Wyoming

Combined population: 5.08 million

Does their site cite a valid source? If not then I understand but otherwise that's just a way to build traffic for their site.

Disagree. It's no different than say a company that's marketing cabinet safety locks having a TV commercial when an infant crawls across the kitchen floor and gets into the cabinet under the sink where mommy stores all of the dangerous stuff.

That organization's goal is to grow. You do that by sound marketing. Appealing to moms via their kids works.

Again, the source page doesn't exist anymore, but I looked at that page a couple months ago when it was still up, and all they did was re-state the same information. There was no third-party sourcing.

Yeah, I think my support of gun rights is largely a result of my libertarian past, but I don't fool myself into thinking that it's logical in the sense of statistics on gun violence. Basically I would rather live in a permissive society that doesn't decide rights by statistics and pie charts. But I still believe in background checks and "common sense" regulations.

A gun should be no different than a car. In order to legally drive a car it has to be registered, you need insurance, it has to pass emission tests, it's headlights and blinkers need to be working, and your windshield can't be all cracked up.

Also, if you mess up a few times behind the wheel they can take away your license.

In order to purchase a gun you should have to pass a federal background check, have a 3-5 day wait (cooling down) period, pass a safety test, and purchase only from a FFL who will register your gun with authorities. And if you want to sell your gun to anyone (even a family member) you should have to transfer the registration via the FFL dealer.

And if you are convicted of a violent crime your registration can be revoked and you have to turn your gun in to the FFL for however long the court decides. Failure to do so should result in an arrest.
