i would argue the inverse, that biological wiring sets the culture(s). being in tune with and adapting to new environments/cultures is a survival mechanism. our biology is what makes us social, not the other way around.

actually surprised i even saw this opinion on here.

is it that controversial? i'm not being sarcastic, i'm surprised myself that it's even debatable.

Not even kidding most would consider that to be far right wing near race realism. I'm not sayingI disagree, just surprised to see that opinion.

I don't think you get into "race realism" until you argue that certain races are "biologically deficient" or something. There's nothing far right about thinking that human behavior is dictated by biology unless you start supplementing it with pseudo-scientific neo-Nazi arguments.

Science isn’t political.

WWWP 01-28-2018 09:25 AM

And race isn't biological lol

OccultHawk 01-28-2018 09:49 AM

Well

Scientists and governments have political agendas but if the findings withstand scrutiny it doesn’t matter if they make us uncomfortable.

Since the assumption that there cannot be any racial predisposition toward behavior or intelligence is so taboo to challenge the hypothesis remains essentially untested.

I think we’re on the same page but let me see if you agree with this distinction:

Our understanding of cultural relativism IS biological wiring. Our understanding of anything is biological wiring. Understanding itself is biological wiring.

Too reductionist for my taste.

What it boils down to is you either understand consciousness is chemical or you don’t.
