:o:

They

And they are non-binary. The gender binary refers to "male or female" as identifiers, something which Tristan and many of us reject.

Nah, Tristan has to expect it. If you want your gender identity respected then how about showing respect to people who don't understand with patience rather than freaking out over something as petty as what pronoun is used. Not that Tristan's the one freaking out. Most non-binary people I've met really don't care that much about pronouns because they know they can't expect everybody to cater to it. They're usually fine with what pronouns match their sex because it's just easier.

That's a shallow way of looking at it.

Maybe that's your experience in Utah, it's certainly not mine here. **** that laziness. And in this case it truly is as simple as I corrected mindful and explained the pronouns to use for Tristan and it was effectively ignored. Hold yourself to a higher standard. It's not hard to respect pronouns.

I’ve never personally known a non-binary person but I’ve known a female->male trans, and he was generally very understanding of people using female pronouns as long as they weren’t doing it maliciously. I did however see on multiple occasions that people would refer to him with female pronouns blatantly on purpose to be cruel. THAT is just pure evil to me, but an accidental slip up is fine as long as the person who slipped up acknowledges the mistake. At least that’s how my friend saw it anyway, I can’t speak for everyone in that position

Which is why I replied with a playful faceplam in the first response. I’m just sick of gendered language and trying to call it out, not necessarily offended by it.
