It's true that the earliest batch of Cuban immigrants were largely gusanos... But the anti communist sentiment isn't limited to upper and middle class Cubans. Lower class Cubans and Venezuelans in America are also generally anti socialist because they fled specifically from failing communist states
I actually addressed that.

Yes American sanctions play a part in why the economy is stagnant but also the Castro regime has been fairly authoritarian which is one of the most common complaints I heard from Cuban emigres when I was in south Florida.

It's easy for you to say suck it up and blame it on America/capitalism from the comfort of your white home but it's pretty easy to understand why people who flee a nominally communist, authoritarian dictatorship to find a much better life in the states aren't the most sympathetic to the communist cause.

They're somewhat ignorant in their assessment yes but aren't we all?

He was authoritarian against those who insisted on clinging to capitalism

He did kill many but many deserved to die. Then they wouldn’t be voting republican in Florida.

I'm skeptical cause you say that about every communist dictator... Like I've literally seen you say the same thing about Stalin.

This is what I mean by aren't we all ignorant. You're shaming them for irrationally associating all things bad with communism cause they come from a ****ty yet nominally communist society, yet you do the same thing with America/capitalism. So if you were Cuban chances are you'd be the most rabid anti communist around.

Maybe. Can’t say. I’ve only lived this life.

You also have to compare Cuba to its stolen future

Yes. The future that belonged to Cubans before Castro was stolen by America during Castro. America stole their future (some of which is in the past now)

Cuba had a great future but America stole it.

it's both richer and less authoritarian. I don't doubt that economic opportunity plays the dominant role but I also think people would probably flee from a richer authoritarian government.

I'm not even comparing the two I'm just saying it's easy to understand that perspective.
