I think the reason they went to Portland is that there's been BLM protests there for a while now.
Portland loves everything about black people except living in the same city.

BLM has been appropriated there. I love what they’re doing but Trump is dead on when he calls them anarchists.

That's typical of well-off white liberals.

I bet you that NOBODY is going to cancel their Netflix subscription over the Cuties controversy and they very well could.

You can find most of their **** pirated very easily.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Do you think it would garner the same controversy if Netflix didn't advertise it as pedophile bait? And do you think the uncomfortable scenes tarnish the point of the movie?

I'm not going to watch it but I know it was fairly celebrated prior to it coming to Netflix so I'm curious.

Edit: And you should find The Hood Has Eyez. It's a very very very very ****ty homemade movie but it's sooo ****ing funny. It's basically Donald Trump's version of I Spit On Your Grave.

Kinda different when the people do it and Orwell didn't catch the entertainment factor of it iirc. It's adjacent. Everything he said about language and manipulation is depressingly true though.

I get that. I’m gonna be defensive if my understanding of Orwell is questioned. My politics? Not so much.

Surveillance is a central theme in 1984 and oppressive surveillance is one of the most common meanings of the term.
