If you're willing to subsidize all that through the federal govt that could work in the short term
Like the military and public schools?

What is your point, that govt jobs exist? My point is your entire economy can't just be building infrastructure and parks and ****. You need some form of industry for that to be sustainable long term. Otherwise who's buying the houses? Who's driving on the roads and where are they going? Infrastructure is a valuable investment insofar as it allows for commerce to take place. But without any industry there, that infrastructure project just becomes a money sink.

I'm not even saying it's a bad idea. There could be something to it but it would have to serve some sort of purpose. Build a foundation for some sort of industry that can sustainably provide jobs into the future. I don't think farming is a good fit. I could be wrong but I don't think it's the best land for farming. Too mountainous. Maybe Christmas tree farms but that's all I can think of. Or indoor weed farms.

Tbh, thinking about it, the only thing I can think of is to make it some sort of tourist destination. The mountains themselves aren't quite enough for that. Maybe they could legalize gambling prostitution and weed and make it into a redneck Las Vegas in the mountains with skiing and all that. Dunno.

Entire local economies run off military bases that contribute nothing to the community except the members are given checks from the government to spend. Long term. College towns exist because of public universities. Long term. You just give people jobs fixing **** up like I already said. The economy around it will grow. If it’ll work for completely pointless military bases it’ll work for anything. It might as well be environmental restoration. Even if by some amazing sequence of events the environment heals just keep paying people to do nothing like the military does.

**** it. Anything is better than coal. Christ the coal mines abandoned their workers in the 1970’s.

Maybe gimme an example of a place where literally the only source of industry is a military base or a college.

I'm thinking it will be somewhat difficult to just turn WV into a college town. There are no really prestigious colleges associated with the state of West Virginia and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

More war and corruption, even more than the last guy, more like Obama but instead of a charismatic smile it's just a senile guy this time.

I'm not an American but I just see him screwing over the hopes that the left had in the US.
