POTUS 46: What do you want/expect/hope for/fear?
Moments ago Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the USA, despite desperate, violent attempts by his now-predecessor to stop this happening. Trump will unlikely fade away; he'll be plotting away, seething in the cauldron of Mar-a-Lago, scheming to wreak his revenge.
But **** him. He's yesterday's news, something that will anger him more than anything else, and a fitting end. Looking ahead, what do you hope to see for the new administration, or, conversely, what fears have you for the future? |
I hope to see a real safety net for everyone. Real limits put on the brutality of capitalism. And a very serious environmental policy.
|
A proper national response to the COVID-19 epidemic, first and foremost. I don’t think Pres Biden is the man to initiate a real revamping of the infrastructure in the U.S. (which is desperately needed, imo) but something like a new New Deal would be something around which Americans could coalesce on a real level - not just some notion like the “angels of our better nature” after Trump.

Less separatism and more environmentalism.

Not expecting much from Biden. I guess we'll see. |

Let the states go after Trump. A Georgia state pen is worse than any federal **** anyway. |
1. Contain Covid.
2. Police reform. 3. Tax the rich and stabilize this economy. In that order |

Church to all of this. Would be surprised if any of it actually properly happened, but I'm optimistic that things will at least get somewhat better, especially regarding covid measures
|
I'm more than willing to be pleasantly surprised.

Better training, less funding for tactical vehicles that sit in a parking lot for decades not doing anything, and generally better accountability with the brass. Less corruption. |
1. Reunite kids with parents
2. Get on top of Covid insofar as possible; mandate masks and refuse entry to hospital for those who get sick and don't wear them. **** those arseholes. 3. Back into Paris Accords 4. Tackle racial equality 5. Cure cancer 6. Foster world peace 7. Make contact with alien intelligence 8. Prove the existence, or non-existence, of God 9. Reunite Pink Floyd Note: those last five can wait till his second term |

I don't see Biden stacking the court with anyone who supports anything good besides abortion.

Just think he should. Quote:
Police departments aren’t like school districts where the federal government can just start making rules they’re going to follow. They’re not under federal jurisdiction unless their policies are challenged through legal channels. I get the idea of withholding federal funding or subsidies as a kind of extortion to get the wanted results but that’s just going to end up in an angry cluster**** and inefficient bureaucratic oversight. |

The best thing about POTUS46 is that he's not POTUS45.

A brave stance.
