milano - love your avatar - combination of David Byrne and Mr. Bean. Sorry I didn't interact with you that much on muzicforums, cos in the beginning, I was mostly arguing with Muzoid about the merits of my "music". But based on chat, you're fuckin' A in my books and you love Aaron Carter and Jesse McCartney as well so what else can I say?
|
No biggie ducey. Glad we've had chances to interact more. You're pretty cool in my books as well.
I'll definitely be doing an updated list in a few days considering i've gotten to know a lot of you quite well. |
Have to make a mention of
TheDownwardSpiral: He was my early favourite member, and we shared alot of the same tastes in music, but then he went MIA for a while. But now it looks like he's back. In summation, TDS is cool. Real cool. |
scrotieMcboogerballs - Who are you and why are you looking at my profile?
|
S__k: I remember him, he's a cool dude. He just pays way too much attention to the female members sometimes. ;)
|
Loose lips- geeky MF who also happens to be one of my most missed members.
|
Jackhammer: One of the friendliest members this side of the UK. He has a taste in music that would make Tim Gane blush. Everything from Slayer to Shoegaze, you name it and he has heard it.

Alright, updated list, seeing as i've gotten to know some of you a bit better. Keep in mind these are just my observations, so taking offense to anything I say would be pointless, it's also possible to take things out of context. I'll do another updated list in due time.
djchameleon: It was a bit hard to really understand him at first because I felt like he was trying to be a know-it-all with everything that was brought up, but I don't think that's the case at all, I think he's just misunderstood because he knows a lot about different things. He's a cool guy though if you can just sit down and chat with him, considering i've talked to him in chat quite a few times now. He's someone I could probably turn to if I needed to talk about something semi serious or a bit more serious, or if I am in need of some advice of some sort. I've also noticed that a lot of people have their own opinions about him, which I am still finding hard to understand to an extent, but that's just me, maybe i dont pay attention enough. Paloma: Speaking from experience, definitely not someone you want to get into a serious discussion with if you have no idea what your side is or if you don't have the knowledge to back your side up. That's not particularly a bad thing either, I could see her taking a ton of people out in a debate of some sort, which I think is a pretty good quality to have. I feel that she is generally a nice person if you really needed something, kind of the same thing with dj. I could be wrong though. I just think that she has that "i like to mess around, but I will do anything for you if you need me to" attitude, which I can respect. Very fun person to talk to if you've got the right conversation going. Tumor: She may seem that she's a bit out of her head sometimes, but I find her absolutely hilarious. She sparks up a conversation in some nonsense sort of way, and it just makes me laugh. It looks like she has the "attention whore" label around here, but than again, we're all on a music forum, talking to people we don't really know in real life, so is it safe to safe that we're all striving for attention? Perhaps? I don't know, she's just a fun person and seems to really enjoy being a bit out there when it boils down to it, in a good way of course, not out there mentally, just out there in terms of saying things that a lot of people just wouldn't expect, but is funny nonetheless. Pedestrian: She has this whole "not a lot of people really know about me" thing going on. I first noticed that in her thread for when she became a mod. I for one think she's got a pretty good range of taste in music, and can definitely have a fun sense of humor. She always approves my journal posts too. When I saw her journal though, it totally beat the shit out of my organization skills. I think she sets the bar of how a post should look, and how much time one should take in terms of posting in your journal. I haven't spent too much time in other parts of the forum yet, so I could be missing a lot. theuglyorgan: Oh man, what is there to say about him. First off, we've got the same name basically, we generally have got the same sense of humor, and whenever him and I are in a chatroom of some sort, it seems like we become the only people continuing with the conversation, even if there were more people involved before hand. I feel like we could be the Starsky and Hutch of MusicBanter, or some form of duo that seems to just cause chaos or humor wherever we go. Very fun person to talk to. Don't be discouraged if I didn't add you in this list, i'll update it later on, I must've forgotten some obvious people, but those were just at the top of my head. |

Thank you, Milano. Hopefully my journal isn't just a pretty face! I try to take my time with my content as well as my design. I hadn't expected even this much to come from it, and I've been surprised by how much I enjoy working on it.
|
I would love to throw out some opinions, but it seems that I spend more time on here conversing with those whom I have differing opinions with, than I do with those of you whom I actually like and admire, so my judgment may be slightly skewed. I was out of the loop for a while, and many of the old members (or "MuBa's" as we used to refer to ourselves as) that I was fond of are long gone.
djchameleon: Very cool cat. Most likely has loads of the same content in his music library that I do. He always speaks his mind, regardless of the outcome (which is quite admirable). Most definitely one of my favorite members. Dirty: Has an extensive knowledge of, and love for hip-hop and rap, which is what makes him relatable to myself. He can come off as a bit abbrasive at times, like there is no filter between his consciousness and his mouth (so whatever is on his mind will come out). His opinions seem pretty honest though. Vanilla: She is pure eye-candy. I haven't the slightest clue of her musical tastes, as I tend to stop listening and reading when an attractive female is involved. But in all seriousness, she is quite level-headed and most likeable to interact with. Il Duce: His posts tend to catch me off guard at times, so it's kind of hard to form a valid opinion. He does make me laugh though, sort of like the cool uncle that your family shuns. Laces Out Dan (LesPaul43): Cool guy, he's one of my old favorites. He's big into sports, as am I. I don't get much interaction with him, as I was unaware of who he was when I came back (damn username changes!) Buzzov*en / Pooka: I feel that it is acceptable to lump them together, as my feelings toward them are consistant. They are very argumentative and enjoy provoking aimless banter for their own amusement. They start and contribute stupidity to many threads on here, then go behind everyone's backs and laugh about it on their other music forum. The word "troll" seems fitting. TheBig3: Very well-spoken and extremely knowledgeable on music, politics and religion. His discussions from back in the day regarding the Iraq War were epic. |

Keep an eye out for stray hairs. :p: No but seriously folks, I digress.
I like a lot of people on here. Paloma, Janszoon, Urban Hatemonger, RVCA, Il Duce, Aurora, Vanilla, djchameleon, storymilo, holly, loose_lips, Vegan, Neapolitan, James, dreadnaught, tore, jackhammer, etc. For all different reasons of course. Others as well. Pretty much everyone I see. |
Quote:
Thanks man, you're probably the nicest guy on here. |
James - If I get hit by a bus tomorrow I like to think that he would take on my role as forum curmudgeon and do great things.
|
Janszoon- we are both similar in age, outlook on life, grew up with the same music and still look for new music and ideals way past the age when we should have hung up our slippers and remain set in our ways. I would genuinely love to meet him for a drink.
Urban - I think that his humour and no nonsense approach would annoy me in everyday life but only because he would reveal truths that you don't really want to accept, yet I absolutely like this guy so much. He is the epitome of frankness. Tumor - she is a self confessed bitch but I have rarely come across someone that can articulate what she feels and why she feels that way and still command an audience. Self pity never enters the equation. She could tear me a new ******* at any time and knows it yet I never find her offensive. Not to all tastes but is far more intelligent than she realises. Right Track- I don't like Man U fans whatever their background and history to their hometown club but this is an inbuilt prejudice. Even if I never get to meet him I am utterly confident that he is the sort of guy who would give u the shirt off his back even if u didn't know him. A true British gent. Mojopinuk - When people ask what is great about Britain I think of this fella. Funny as ****, witty but he has that dark, seething fury about him that one day will explode and still won't blot his copybook. I have a lot of time for him. NSW - The most infuriating mod for years. So much to say and bags of intelligence but so conspicuous by her absence. I feel she has so much to give here but never gets the chance to say it. Big3 - The best enigma on MB. One of the best posters on here by far. Maddening, infuriating but ridiculously readable. I miss him when he is away. Sidewinder - Probably the finest non mod ever. The guy is a walking encyclopedia of music but is so unassuming about it all. Dankstra - Exists in some other dimension that most of us don't know about. Thoughtful, direct and erudite. Still want to find her sense of Humour though! Paloma - Talk about music ffs. U like your music and have intelligence. Show it and be the great member that I know u can be. Tore - an awesome guy that should sometimes just be himself and not an 'ideal' that he thinks he should be. He is ridiculously intelligent yet I know he has humour in abundnance. Show it! Bulldog - I hate this guy only because he is one of the very few that lives and breathes music but still has this need to be nice all the time. Stop it! U have intelligence and charisma but are not forceful enough! you could shame 80% of the forum with your knowledge and enthusiasm. Show it more please! Loose Lips - Miss this guy like crazy. Witty as **** and wise beyond his years. One of the few people to introduce new bands to others whilst having this reticent attitude to do so. Be more forceful and have conviction. Vanilla- despite the cliched sexual predator role she has forged for herself, Vanilla is one of the most intriguing members I have met on MB. Sexually aware and enticing with it, she also has an amazing capacity to make people warm to her which is no mean feat. Far more intelligent than she acts. Vanilla has an amazing knack of being intriguing and desirable both physically and mentally. A night out with Vanilla is a secret wish of mine. This is really about the older members (in terms of time here) and not a hankering for times past. Plenty of recent members will get the jackhammer treatment soon ;) |

At times I feel a sense of humour is lacking here, even though most members have fantastic ones. |
Quote:
As for that whole, forum has gone to **** talk I kinda agree. Too much sex talk these days. Hopefully things will pick up. Il Duce-Quickly becoming a caricature of himself. clutnuckle-The most underrated member on here, has an amazing way with words and an interesting viewpoint on any topic. |
Quote:
I think the issue is that you don't really think things through enough. You have good intentions, but they're poorly thought out and they usually contradict themselves. This ends up putting you on the receiving end of some things you may not agree with. I challenge you to at least consider them before simply retaliating with an opinion for the sake of retaliating. |
Hi everyone, just a notice to say that I spent the last 2 hours removing 100 pages worth of chat, off-topic chat, and much other rubbish. It was moderators also (including myself) on top of other members but this is now to stop. This thread is now in the Editors Pick as originally suggested by Freebase and others. If you want your post approved it must be relevant to the thread and contribute decent posts. I.e. not just one-line posts about yourself or others.
If anyone has any further comments or questions please PM me or any other moderator. |
Well, I think perhaps I may take the time to make one of these:
in order of people I have responded to recently: Vanilla: Absolutely bat**** insane, but personally I feel that's the best way for a person to be! Has consistently shown the ability to both be a good, sincere and fair (from what I've seen) moderator, and also maintain the "This is my opinion and I'm gonna say it, if you don't like it then sod off" approach that she's always had. Straight Talking, good fun, and always good for a mad chat about anything. Certainly one of the more entertaining posters on the forum! CanwllCorfe: Forever the gentleman, but not in a way that he allows people to walk all over him, which is often the danger in being constantly kind. Willing to accept the views of others while not capitulating on his own, which is an admirable quality. His posts are always well though out, or at least seem that way, and I've never seen him fail to bring something to a discussing he has entered into. He's a little bit of a know-it-all, but gives his information in such a way that it is impossible to take offence, as it is never done in order to put someone else down. Neapolitan: I'm not sure about this guy. Most of the posts that I've seen him make on the forum have either been to correct someone's grammar in a rather condescending manner, or most recently, to consistently make statements with the assumption of correctness without any real justification. Which is fine from a musical opinion perspective, but not from a maths approach :P However, I realise that my opinion is probably tainted by the fact that I have never been on the same side of an argument with this guy, and I understand that he gets along very well with many people on the forum. Perhaps it is a case of an arrogant shell, with a good friend on the inside, once you are perceived to be worthy! I know it is all too easy to act that way, especially online (I know I've done it myself in the past) and I refuse to hold it against someone I don't know that well. Freebase Dali/Janszoon: Seriously, the only way I can tell you two apart is by your avatars, but I would imagine that's because I really don't post as much as I should! However, both of you have a number of the same characteristics: good mediators, good posters, solid contributors to any thread I've looked in, but also with a slightly sharp sense of humour, happy to poke fun at people in circumstances where it won't aggravate the situation, and often the first people to calm a thread down once it starts going too far. djchameleon: A slightly confusing kettle of fish. I've had multiple conversations with him which have been great, both where we have agreed and disagreed on a number of subjects. He generally seems thoughtful of the opinions of others and takes that into account when he is posting. However, I have noticed that he is often very quick to show his "knowledge of women", often in a way that's almost like a competition, and is part of a group of posters that are in some ways threatening to turn this forum, or at least the Lounge area, into some sort of Sex Pageant. While he's not the main offender, he's just the first person in this list that I've come to. Sorry Dj :P As others have noted, he has a tendency sometimes to make posts that in some ways seem out of character, in others like a bitchy side which comes through every now and then - barbed remarks that are later passed off as jokes, but one does wonder at their sincerity, or necessity. Tore: I think the vast majority of people who have ever come in contact with Tore have the same opinion of him: Kind, Helpful, Calm, Thoughtful; it feels like there's this bubble of mature discussion that follows him around the forums: wherever he goes people seem to calm down and post properly! An exceptional mediator and organiser, it's always a pleasure to talk to him on a whole range of subjects. s_k: Another mixed barrel, though I understand that that may be out of his control. I apologise if I get a little psychoanalytical in this, but it is my nature to try and figure people out, and you have been an interesting subject :P You are an exceptionally kind person; you will always go out of your way to accomodate people; to get to know them, to make friends with them, and to learn as much as you can about them. However, I do agree with a number of other posters who have stated that it sometimes gets a little... creepy. There are times when it seems like you are too eager for attention and approval (especially from girls), and then others where you seem to dump your "everyone can be who they like" approach and are really disparaging about either a person's opinions or a group of people. However, I get the impression that this is not an intentional slight, but something that he is compelled to say. Urban Hatemonger: Honestly, I knew this guy better back in the day, but I have noticed a lack of his grumpy self on the boards, which is a shame. I've always enjoyed his posts: disparaging to a great extent, but in such a way that it's obvious that he's not really being malicious, and he's really just a cuddly teddy bear underneath his cold hard exterior. Probably best known now for stating that this forum has gone to the dogs, I will always remember him for his unparallelled hatred of Bono. Il Duce: I get the feeling that Il Duce has an incredibly mundane work life, or one that he finds quite constricting and ... normal. It would certainly explain why the vast majority of his posts on this forum seem to be flippant, carefree or often, just totally insane. Sometimes, it's amusing, helping to defuse a situation, other times, it's frustrating, as it can derail an interesting topic. If there is any one thing I would ask him to change, it would be the obsessive sexual posting that threatens to smother many conversations every time there is a female member involved. However, He is an active contributor, and I realise that he is restricting this flippant posting mostly to the Lounge section, and he does contribute quite a lot to threads in the music areas of the forum. That's all I can think of for now. If I've not mentioned anyone, it's not a personal slgith, more that I don't like to make judgements of people unless I've had a fair bit of contact with them, or at least enough to be able to tell who they are. I also think I mentioned some people already in this thread, but I can't remember who i did, so... something :P |

Burning Down: Aka stupid simpson guy, has to be the coolest chick ever! She's witty, smart and never fails to make me happy.
Mojopiunk: Sexy bitch who needs a spanking...I mean...great contributer and has the ability to stir up people in the most subtle means. Duga: Great mod, very keen to learn more of her music taste as so far I've seen some great comments from her about certain music. Pedestrian: Who the **** are you? Just kidding! I've enjoyed getting to know you more since you've become mod, as before I didn't feel your presence as much. Freebase Dali: Can't stand the guy, pretentious, self-involved, ugly prick. Reverse the last sentence to be opposite of what is said and you'll realise he's an amazing guy and really keeps the mod team on their toes. Nothing gets missed! Although my dear I wish you would loosen up sometimes and enjoy yourself more often on the boards. :) Satchmo: MIA, where the hell are you my sweet prince? He's a very cool long standing member. Conan: He has to be the most kindest, fun and geniune guy on the boards (next to Jackhammer), I love him long time! dankrsta: Don't know you as well but this can change. Still a top chick. Nonsubmissivewife: Need I say more? Great music taste, great reviews, and fantastically witty spoken lady. Last but not least, Janszoon: Giggity. I have this secret crush on lee because he consistently gives the lawls and we team together to be very sly dogs around the board. I might even tell my therapist of my strange affliction towards him. ;) |

You are so kind! Thank you :) |
:o: thanks V!

Thanks Vanilla.
We should just start telling people that I'm a modbot who is pre-programmed to ban people for listing prog albums or saying negative things about feminists. |
Tumor - Great person, she puts up with a lot of my moping and other bullshit. Her taste in music is pretty good, as I know she listens to Rapeman and Jesus Lizard. I just wish she would be a little more positive about things though.
Dayvan Cowboy - Probably one of the coolest 14 year olds ever. She listens to a lot of the experimental stuff I get into, and is just a cool person in general. It's just sometimes I wish I could ruffle her head and tell her to perk up. Ethan - Probably one of the coolest people on the board. I miss him so much and wish he would come back. I talk to him sometimes on AIM and he seems to be doing well, but we don't share much in common musically these days other than Iron & Wine and Nick Drake. Sweet Nothing - Probably one of the First friends I made on this site, he was and still is pretty awesome. I used to give him music on his birthday and he'd do the same for me (god, I miss that). Please come back Kenny! WolverineWeiselWolfPigeon - Coolest chick on the west coast. We've texted each other for awhile and she's grown to be one of my best friends online. We don't talk as much these days because she has a job and is just busy with life, but I wish she would just come back to MB once and awhile. Dreadnaught - Man, I had fun talking with her back in the day. She was Awesome! I feel like I messed up somewhere and we sort of became a little bit hostile to each other. I think I left once for awhile because I got pissed at her for some reason or another, but I can't remember. HA! Awwsugar - Again, another thing I messed up. She's pretty cool and can sing and play guitar too! I don't think I see her on MB as much as I used to, but she's probably busy with other things. Dayna - Man, you might as well call her the Queen of MB. Tough as shit, opinionated, and just doesn't give a fuck. She will call you out on your bullshit and make you feel like an utter fool. She is a nice person though, as well as an avid reader. She gave me some book recommendations awhile back and I found those books as pretty good reads. Vanilla - Hmmm, I'm not sure what to say about her, but she does seem pretty experienced in some areas. She seems like an awesome mod and the added estrogen to the mod team sure did balance things out. More to come, a lot more. |
I love you Alex. I'm glad you're back.

Paloma: I love this girl. When she first joined, I was doubtful that she'd stay tbh. So I kept my distance sorta because I hate when my noob friends leave never to be seen again (also why I don't greet noobs anymore, it hurtz) she's one of the biggest characters on the boards and has an absolutely smashing personality. Her honesty is admirable and her harsh way with words has made me lol a few times. Her "IDGAF" attitude amuses me around here. Last but not least she's actually really kind, has tonsss of amazing advice. Between her and Urban Hatemonger I should never go wrong in life. FaSho: I think I'll always think of fasho as a child, even although he should be about 16 now? Anyway he's really easy to talk to, he's quite a witty guy. Always appears when I least expect with something funny to say :) AwwSugar: undoubtedly the nicest person I have ever conversated with on the Internet. She's so kind I actually doubt that there's a malicious bone in her body. She may be kind but people don't take advantage of it, something that often happens when you're nice. More laters. |
Aurora: I miss you being called kayleigh. but oh well. I feel like we haven't spoken in a really really long time... definitely something that needs to be fixed. One of the people on the site that can always be counted on to say something nice.

One that isn't sarcastic(hopefully):
Dankstra - By far my favorite moderator/member of the forum. Always polite, never flustered, or angry. Amazing taste in music, and an amazing catalogue. Single hadidly keeps the much under-appreciated 'Avant-Garde' forum living, and breathing. Also, has peaked my interest looking into surrealist film. JackPat - I consider my spiritual 'noob' friend on these forums. He joined quite a bit after me, but I always felt that when we started sort of noticing each other, it was around the same time, and neither of us were well established, or acquainted with the forum. Very good taste in music, and very much exploring the same eras of avant prog that I am, so always a good discussion. Janzsoon - Probably the first member/moderator to recognise I even exist. Amazingly good taste in music, open minded, honest, frank, and hilarious. He tends to bruise other people's egos at times, so people think he's some sort of grumpy prick. I don't see that at all, I just see him as somebody who will be brutally when brutal is needed. Another reason I'm big on him. Tore - Nicest guy in the world. I can't say a single bad thing about Tore. Excellent taste in music, and probably one of the easiest guys to talk to. Plus, I'm amazed at his encyclopaedic knowledge of 'atmospheric horror' films. Wish the prog club could have kept going, because it would have allowed me to explore more acts discovered like Comus, Mike Oldfield, and Gentle Giant(all 3 are now indispensable to my collection) still, I'm massively thankful for his dedication to keep it alive. TheUglyOrgan - love this kid. Very open minded, nice, funny. Very easy to talk to, polite, kind. Very good with stories, and has a lot of interesting things to say about his life. Dayvan Cowboy - astounding taste in music. If she gets into making music, there's no way she's not going to be a prodigy. Being as young as she is, and already understanding the intricacies of avant-garde progressive rock. Plus, a fan of Zorn, is a fan of mine. Conan - nice guy, good mod, great arguer. By far one of the top members of this forum. Seems a bit invisible lately, though. I see him every once in awhile post something official mod business, or whatever. See him way to little around anymore, saddens me a tad. Engine - Fun guy to argue politics with, and has a very wide taste in music. Some really similar, some not. Sort of an overlooked member on these forums. Tumor - I like Tumor. I don't like her appreciation for Trollish humor, and barely know/correlate with her music tastes. But, I can appreciate the morbid humor, and the semi-pissed off, but not really attitude. one of the more fun members to talk with. DJ Chameleon - Talk to him all the time. Really easy guy to talk to. Very open, and honest. Music tastes are like the sun, and moon with me, but still always fun discussing music with the guy. Does whatever he can to keep the social atmosphere at musicbanter alive, and deserves worlds of credit for it. [b]RezZ[b] - Just a really awesome metalhead. Appreciated some of the 'Bondage Fruit' I sent to him which gains him a million cool points in my book. Very interesting, fun, awesome guy to talk to. James - You know, I don't really know whether this guy likes me, or ****ing hates me. He's always given off missed signals on that front, but I can't ever say I don't appreciate James's taste in music, and honesty. Very open minded, and has brought a lot to the table in terms of appreciating things I consider under-appreciated. Sometimes a tad temperamental seeming, but honestly an indispensable member of these forums. I'll add more if I feel. |
