Wow! Thanks Vegangelica for such kind words! You also chose, somehow, the perfect word to describe me, maybe, as I am indeed passionate about the things I love (although that word has become so banal and overused thanks to reality shows --- "I'm passionate about business" etc) and when necessary I do fight for them, but I'm always ready to admit when I'm wrong. Not always easy, but then sometimes taking a step back and realising you owe an apology is the best way to defuse a rapidly-escalating situation.

The incident you refer to with wisdom is well catalogued, so I won't go into it, but I think I'd still rather be the sort of person who would have a fiery arguement/heated debate with someone rather than someone who would just let all the conversations pass me by passively. You'd probably be surprised to know that in real life I'm a totally easy-going person: the phrase "I just want a quiet life" was probably invented for me! Live and let live. :)

I'm always happy to share my meagre music experience here, after all that's part of what we're all here for, isn't it? On a side note, I wonder if you've managed to check out my journal yet, as I'd be interested in your opinions.

Thanks again for such kind praise: I'll keep trying to live up to it! :)

Erica, thank you so much for your kind comments and for including me in your post. Also, for attributing that adjective to me – I appreciate it very much and it made me feel happy and worthwhile on a less than wonderful day. Thank you for doing that, Erica. You have always been so very supportive of me when I’ve wished for it the most. Whatever support I have offered has been deserved by you many times over, and has been scant return for the support you have given to me. I think both you and I know that. While reading your post, the thought entered my mind that all the positive adjectives you rightfully attributed to others could easily apply to you – passionate, self-controlled, loving, generous, romantic, loveable, playful Erica. That’s you! :)

I'm glad you feel the "passionate" adjective fits, Trollheart. I can well imagine that your philosophy is "live and let live," but, like you, I'd rather be in a heated argument than passively let a conversation go past me. (Yes, I have checked out your resurrected journal--very thorough and descriptive!--but I haven't read it all...yet! ;))

I admire your willingness to give apologies when you feel they are necessary. I try to give them, too. Speaking of which...

Oh dear. I had hoped you would know I was joking about "saving the worst for last." :( I debated with myself whether I should use the ;) after my non-comment about you, but I thought that since our "thang" is to show affection by shooting barbs at each other, you'd know I was joking. So, my apologies if you felt I was being serious.

Being serious *now*, the first adjective that popped into my mind to describe you is...

bold.

The second was...

brazen. As in, "You're a brazen hussy, David."

I've always been amused by your creative putdowns of me that you used to give more frequently, because they showed you were putting in effort. I suppose you've been busy and haven't had much time to think of something to amuse a random person on the Internet. But when weeks go by and I haven't seen a single jab, I start to think: maybe he doesn't like me! :( It's like walking into a bar (which I never do) and seeing one of my old drinking buddies, and he doesn't even punch me (lightly) in the arm in greeting!

(Notice that I emphasized old for a reason. ;))

VEGANGELICA : I tried reducing you down to one adjective, but found that I couldn`t choose between intelligent and compassionate. I like the thoughtful way that you reach out in order to understand other people; a good example of this being your recent defence of wisdom, in which you came to your own, independent judgement and followed through on it to give him a chance.

Thank you very much for the kind words, and for being friendly towards a slow, occassional poster.

Thanks Hip Hop Bunny Hop. I feel apperciated.

I don't understand how people, who witnessed Salami's flood of spam, attempts at ingratiating himself by studying old forum pissing contests, wall of text quotes from Rolling Stone, & his wildly vacillating personality can complain about FPK.

sopsych 10-03-2012 12:53 PM

I found out I was publicly complimented. Not entirely accurately - I do have a temper - but I appreciate the words.

I don't know more than a little about individuals here and frankly that in itself is disappointing. As is the tough-mindedness of some members. One wish of mine is to make some connections with like-minded people. But I share the opinion of Howard the Duck as good-natured and also I think of VEGANGELICA as very intelligent in a wide-reaching way and (perhaps more importantly) tuned into and respectful of people's emotions.

Scarlett O'Hara 10-03-2012 07:37 PM

I try to be freindly to people here, even Franco Pelle Kalle, but there is something about him that's unsettling. Like he just can't say to Burning Down "I hope you do well in life" or "I hope you become rich and famous." No, that would be too easy for him to say. He has to find something like "money maker" which is synonymous for "booty" - a word that's never far from mind or utterance for him. Once, I followed a conversation he had in the shout box and most of the things he said had double meaning. He was full of them, these innuendos that it didn't seem possible they were all accidental mistakes. I've read some of his tweets on his twitter account and it just doesn't seem right - I can't see how it is possible someone would say some of the things he said. I came to the conclusion that either he struggling with the English language and says odd things or he is a sockpuppet - a fake identity.

PS Franco Pepe Kalle if you are real in real life - sorry, you don't seem real on the internet.

Franco Pepe Kalle 10-04-2012 08:34 AM

Neapolitan,

I just tend to rant random ****. I am a real person. I honestly don't care whether you like me or not. About Burning Down, what I meant is that I hope she is able to make lots of money. I know Burning Down seems like the type that can. Booty has nothing to do what I meant about Making Money. I have not thought much about booty. In fact I have been very busy and finding some great African music.

On Twitter, I just put random stuff. I don't put any consistence on anything. I say one thing then I say another later. There are many that cross my mind. My english has been ****ed up primarily I have been inclined to speak three other languages more. FRENCH, LINGALA, and SWAHILI which are the languages my parents know how to speak better than I do. They want me to speak these languages I mentioened. I have speaking these three languages as result, I am thiking more french, lingala & sawhili lately so my English has been dropping a bit. My parents are from Democratic Republic of Congo (in Maniema region next to North Kivu). Their best languages are French, Swahili, and Lingala. English is their fourth language. They speak English ok but it is still medicore at best at least according to my parents.

Hip Hop Bunny Hop seems more hated than me because everyone seems to give him a bad rep. It is interesting.

Later in life I’d always get comments like “So where’s your girlfriend Dave? / Why don’t you have a girlfriend Dave?” It took me a while to articulate my answer but it eventually became – You can only burn something so much before all you’re left with is a handful of ashes. I’m 35, I’ve had like 2 relationships if you count that insanity in Baltimore as anything. The other used me as a rebound Summer fling that, come to find out, was also getting me to sex her up the same way her uncle used to do her when she was a little girl.

I don’t even consider the possibility of dating anymore.

OK, whatever... I don't know if you will ever understand this but the next time you use the phrase "money maker" remember it also can mean "booty." "Shake your money maker" = "Shake your booty."

Just for the record I don't hate either you FPK or HHBH.

Hip Hop Bunny Hop is another person I have failed to figure out, the first time I'd seen him on MB I thought he was an African American who was deeply concern about the problems that face African Americans. I was mislead by his (old) avatar (of some rapper wearing wearing a lot of bling bling) and the graphs he provided.

Rjinn 10-05-2012 03:21 AM

@Hip Hop Bunny

I don't know where you're getting at with your screwed up relationships. Seriously, that just seems like an excuse playing the victim because you found some crack girlfriends and friends. Don't give in to negativity no matter who says what or some dumb ass comments and judgements people like to condescend you with. Screw it. Just laugh. I'm 24 and have never had a relationship, I never found it a big deal. People have asked me why too and tell them I'm not desperate and fine on my own. Just keep going from one to other until you're satisfied, that's how you'll ever get there, if that's what you want.

Trollheart 10-05-2012 04:31 AM

HHBH is an enigma to me. The first time I encountered him was through what was laughingly termed his journal, which was rather quickly shut down after personal insults seemed to form its mainstay. The way he wrote in that, like someone let loose with a crayon in a mental institution, I assumed he was either a) very young or b) in need of some professional help.

Then I read some of his other posts, and was so amazed to see that they were not only well thought out and written, but that he used language, grammar, spelling and capitalisation properly, something that had never happened in what could almost be termed a stream of consciousness in his journal, that I honestly thought either he had someone else writing for him, there were two people with the same username or he had multiple, or at least two, personalities.

I'm still not sure what to think: the kind of thought and preparation that goes into many of his posts, particularly political ones, is surprising considering how haphazard and how much a train wreck his not-lamented journal was.

GuitarBizarre 10-05-2012 07:05 AM

HHBH strikes me as a guy who hasn't grown out of that highschool teenage phase, where rebellion is significantly important, and humour mainstays include the aimless search to provoke negative reactions. He'll basically trawl through threads and so on, seeking to say the thing that will garner the most vehement response, and then will spend time whipping people up until they decide he's not worth their time.

Childish, frankly.

Seems like everybody is talking about HHBH on here at the moment and like Neapolitan said, I always initially felt than he was also an African American as well (mislead also by his old avatar) but then gradually it became obvious that he couldn't be.

First of all, I really like HHBH. Every discussion I've ever had with him has been good, even if he forayed into some topics I was less than completely comfortable with. :p

On that note, I don't think he's a racist at all. I think he hates everyone equally until proven that they shouldn't be hated, no matter what race/gender or religion/political party they belong to.

I think he ultimately creates good discussion. He has made me cringe on occassion because he has the polar opposite view, but that also creates discussion. I think the gang mentality sometimes gets the best of his threads and discussion. I've never felt him to be hateful or even necessarily mean to anybody.

I think the racist thing started with his Skrewdriver thread and continued to grow. I haven't really seen him comment on much else racially motivated. He seems like an ok guy to me. And he said it himself, his girlfriend is partially african american/black/whatever you deem proper so it would seem some of us have painted a picture that isn't necessarily all that flattering without knowing the true story.

Trollheart 10-06-2012 08:09 AM

Yeah, I thought that too. Apart from the fact that the Mad Bunny is taking a very personal piece of your journal out (without your permission, I have to assume from your comment) and airing it here, not even to prove a point, seems both odd and very disrespectful. If people want to read your thoughts they go to your journal: it's not cool for someone to lift something from it and plant it here into a thread that has zero to do with the content, and use it in an argument that has nothing to do with it.

I second that "wtf?" :banghead: :whythis:

He pmed it to me for some reason saying that he (Dave) qualified for "MB's most pathic (pathetic probably)" to get brownie points, presumably.
