Haven't voiced my opinions in a while, here's some constructive criticism for the users who need to step their game up.

SoundgardenRocks: You most definitely don't rock. Your idea of contributing to discussion is to name an album. or to start a thread where you name albums. You seem unable to formulate an opinion past asking inane questions. I make a point in a thread about the pros or cons of an artist. SoundgardenRocks would then ask 'what is your fave 2pac song'. Then name an album. Does he like said album? Does he dislike said album? Does he know anything other than the title of the album? Who knows.

Necromancer: What hole you crawled out from I don't know, but the forum wasn't exactly in need of another blithering idiot who thinks he's the class clown. You offer little to nothing in any conversation be it musical or in the lounge apart from an attempt at humour, but just like the guy in the office who brings in the hilariously witty 'comedy mug' featuring a beloved comedy characters favourite catchphrase, you lack originality or any of the humour you so desperately want to try and pretend to others (and yourself) you have.
Also you seem to have a quasi obsession with Vanilla or at least trying to get her to notice you.
It's okay though Necromancer, I've noticed you. I've noticed how woefully generic you are and how little you actually add to conversation. Find a personality. And something to say. Also, I don't want to like your facebook page. Nobody does.

Every 2013 member: if I wasn't so observant I wouldn't have noticed there were any. Someone do something to actually differentiate themselves or make some form of impression on me. Not that I'm welcoming people to adopt gimmicks or anything, just prove your musical knowledge or at least willingness to talk coherently about it. That's why you joined up, ain't it?

Obviously though I really like the vast majority of you so here's a few bars;

Anticipation: Deceptively clever guy who embodies weirdness and intrigue in equal degrees. Sound music knowledge and an interesting guy, even if I do make efforts to avoid his eccentricity sometimes.

PoorOldPo: Cool guy, obviously a talented artist and an intelligent Jew of a hippy. I imagine he just sits under a tree in the Irish countryside somewhere painting what his cheese and magic mushroom sandwich dictates. Seems approachable and is probably one of the realest members here in what the convey themselves as online.

Goofle11: I often contemplate if Goofle actually sleeps. It may be the only way to get through the masses of music he does. Obviously Goofle is one of my favourite forum members, just an all round solid individual who I would say I share a lot in common with.

Trollheart: Massive fan of TH. The effort he puts into this place is nothing short of remarkable and although he and I have polar opposite musical tastes, I always enjoy reading what he has to say. On a personal note he's just a really nice guy who is welcoming and encouraging to new members as well as always conducting himself like a gentleman around everyone else. Just a top guy all around.

Surrell: Although he's prone to being a little bitch who is also a Tyler The Creator fanboy, I respect Surrell for confronting me and other members when he disagrees with our opinion. Although most of his counter points are wholly irrelevant, it's good to see that he's up for defending his point of view and adding to the discussion.

TheBig3: Cool guy, I can see similarities between he and I but also great differences. Another member who's not afraid to say how he feels and that's how it should be. Although I think he needs to jump off Macklemore's d*ck. We get it, you like the song that doesn't make the rest of us boring squares because we don't.
That being said, I tend to agree with Big3 more times than not in his stance on most matters.

Fred Hale Sr: Top guy. Show's a genuine interest in others and has always been completely cool to everyone regardless of who they are. Just a guy I have nothing bad to say about. Post a picture though, in the least creepy possible way I want to see what you look like.

Rostasi: This guy's just so odd. I want to see a lot more of him. He's the enigma of the forum in my eyes, his brand of unrivalled strangeness captivates me. I can't say much more, because I don't know what to say. Keep an eye on this guy.

That's all for now I think. Obviously there are a lot of other people I like here; Pete, Urban, Hermoine, Franco, Ki, BD, Vanilla, GuitarBizarre, Foward To Death, Alfred, Blarrobarg, etc.. (Yeah, I forgot a sh*tload of you, sorry) but the majority are cool. There's probably more people who need to step their game up also but you've missed my all seeing eye for now. Adiós.

You've really grown on me too maanky. I like how you come on to women, I respect that shiiit, and I like how down to earth you are. And I really enjoyed your stand up, would like to see more of that if it is up on Youtube

Your half right with your visual depiction of me, or three quarters right. Although unfortunately I am not Jewish, just a boring Catholic.(non catholic)

Trollheart 03-25-2013 01:39 PM

Thanks man, that's really nice of you to say. You should write more in your journal though: I miss your posts which were something of a breath of fresh air (particularly liked the casino one).

Also, I think in some ways you're right about most new members but there are a few (may not be 2013 but close) who I think bear mentioning:

Paul Smeenus: I love his name and I think he's done a lot to add a great sense of humour and personality to the place, something it sometimes lacks.

Miss poptart
: Genuine enthusaism for music and creates some great threads, like the Nostalgia one

Fluffy Kittens: Initially got on some nerves with his original name/avatar (though it was a hilarious example of sledgehammer wit) but has now settled well into his role and I think is proving to be a valuable member.

I'm sure there are others, but I'd have to open another window in Firefox to check on the names and I'm too damn lazy. Still, it's nice to see there are some people joining who are definitely contributing, and doing so well, and I think they should be acknowledged.

Paul Smeenus 03-25-2013 03:00 PM

@Trollheart: Thank you. I hope I'm adding some quality discussion on music as well. I'm particularly proud of my Vespertine review, if it's ok to say.

You could do no wrong and people are going to judge you anyway, there's always someone out there who has something negative to say. I've been called a lot worse things than a blithering idiot who thinks he's the class clown, so no offense taken regardless. I am shocked that you suggest I dont offer much in the music forums though!

I am not here looking for acceptance by other MB members. This is just a music forum on the internet that I have been a member of for over 5yrs now. And I never take the internet as being so serious that it affects my current mood or personal life.

I keep coming back to MB for the occasional entertainment by reading other members posts and replies. But for most of all, I stay as a member here because of the people I have come to know here at MB through the years. I just kid around with Vanilla because she is one of my MB (Internet) friends.

My signature facebook (BassPlayerzz) site is mainly for the purpose of musicians to visit. It mainly pertains to my local and tri-state area of Ohio.

It is not my personal site .. This is a music forum isn't it?

Just to add weight to Necromancer's response. Necromancer is probably the coolest old dude on the site and his posts are usually worth looking at. He's been on here even longer than me and is a well liked member across the board. This is actually the first time I've ever seen a negative post about him!

As for a sense of humour, well that's extremely subjective anyway. I tend to think of The Batlord and the Three Stooges as the funniest comedy acts of all time. I'm guessing not too many would agree with me about the Three Stooges though;)

Necromancer 03-26-2013 02:00 PM

Well I appreciate your reply Soldier. But there was really no need. As I explained before. I bother it no mind. For real.

Mankycaaant, as everyone else is intitled to his or her own personal opinion.

The small things in life are not worth the worry.

Still, all the same. Thanks my good friend.

THE END.

Necromancer 04-04-2013 07:02 PM

Well I would like to mention a few members here at MB.
Unknown Soldier: My Mate!

Vanillia: One of my favorite new MB friends.

Burning Down: Also one of my favorite new friends as well.

Batlord: Has always been a partner in crime since we first met.

Engine: Just one of my all around favorite posters here at MB at this particular time.

Fred Hale SR.: Another Brother from a different mother.

SoundGardenRocks: Haven't heard from him in awhile. Come .. Back.

Plankton: One of the Men.

FETCHER: I like FETCHER as a friend, but she won't talk to me. I don't bite my dear. Regardless, your one of my considered friends.

FuffyKittens: Liked him right off the bat. He really seems to be a smart and very nice young man. One of my favorite new members.

Why Hell! I even like Janzsoon.

TrollHeart: A very thoughtful, witty, and just seems to be a very enthusiastic and good person all around.

I'm missing so many more that deserve mention like Phantasio, Urban, Freebase, RT, Electrophonic, LoathSomePete, BlastingGas10 (all of the moderators actually). Duga is the "cool" ist moderator/member though. Wish I could get everyone, but what the hell. I can't.

Bye MB  I'll be checking in on my cell phone from time to time. Off .. back (on the road) to work early in the morning .. "Everybody Take Care".

Honestly, I wonder if people even notice I'm around anymore. I check in randomly throughout the day to comment on things that catch my eye or do a bit of cleanup if I notice some spam or something, but my activity has been way down since January. Gotta get out of grad school.

I am glad when I see people keepin' the forum alive, though.

Ki - Overly sensitive but good intentioned. I get the impression you haven't invested much time into understanding why you believe the things you believe or why you maintain the positions you hold, so you rarely adequately or substantially defend yourself.

Trollheart - Also overly sensitive. Are you familiar with Ockham's Razor? Your posts are laborious to read not only because of their length but because of the inane, masturbatory content.

Vanilla - You are "nice" only in that you're not outrightly malicious. It's not ok with me that you say things like "I'm going to rape their discog" or "dubstep is being anal raped by stupid DJ's." What a ****ing disgusting and ignorant use of the word. I think you're uninteresting and noncontributing and I try to avoid you.

Gunnels - I like you but I just cannot relate to your "I'd rather be happy than right" attitude. I don't know how you do it.

Pedestrian - The member I'd most like to speak with more. I think we'd be brain buddies. I vaguely remember trying to bribe you with mixtapes in exchange for your friendship.. not sure how that played out but the offer stands.

Bob - Another member I'd like to speak with more, if only to feel cool by association. :p:

Goofle - Super rad, very funny, you have a lot of traits that I appreciate in my best guy friends in real life. I can't believe you've never read a book though, ffs.

PoorOldPo - You just ooze niceness. You're an amazing artist and I wish you all the best in that endeavor.

JackPat - Arrogant but inclusive. In that you remind me of myself (take that as you will).

Batlord - I didn't notice him before the dramatic swell in ego prior to his being named Funniest Member, now he's inescapable. I can't say you've never made me laugh but ffs, 90% of the time you're reaching, bro. :)

I think a large percentage of the members here are good in both nature and intentions, but there's this stick that constantly seems to be traded around, handed off and shoved up different asses and I just have no interest in people who are easily offended. I also think there are a lot of people here who are fine and pleasant and what have you but they all blend together in their non-rift creating personalities so they get looked over. Whether that's positive or negative I can't decide.

I'm taking this as a helpful pat on the back if anything. I do have a lot of issues really getting to an understanding of what I believe, but it's hard to type on a forum about what I feel when I talk about the things I believe. With that, I wish there was a way to feel people's emotions online because reading my posts would be much different than is perceived on the forum. With that however, I do know exactly what you mean. I'm not the greatest at explaining myself, never have been, but I do have a lot of knowledge in the things I do believe, which is obvious in the fact that I believe what I do.

I try to defend myself, but it's never easy for me, as I do get easily offended, which leads to me not even wanting to try to defend myself in fear that it will just be thrown away. Much appreciated feedback though, it's something i'll take and learn from. Honestly.

Thanks :)

I actually have read some books in my time, just not the likes of Orwell and Joyce. Those types of books just don't maintain my interest, even if they are interesting (contradictory, but it makes sense to me). I think it is something I will grow into though. I recently bought Miles Davies biography, so that might be the first step.

wolverinewolfweiselpigeon - Funny, smart and straight forward with people. Likes a lot of the same music as myself. All traits I want to see in a poster. +1 for writing good status updates.

Mankycaaant - Probably share the most similar taste in music across the board, and most similar sense of humor. Able to jump from dark/sarcastic/silly to just being belligerent for the sake of it - which can be extremely entertaining. You should persevere with the stand up comedy, but try carving more of a niche.

LoathsomePete - Really cool guy who shares similar taste in TV shows, music and I would assume games/film (I say "assume" because I don;t really talk about either that much on here). Introduced me to many a great band/artist, and makes an effort to listen to things that are suggested to him - which I think is important on here.

Janszoon - Very similar to Pete. Just a nice guy who rarely tries to intentionally stir the pot, however unavoidable that is in this place. Great taste in music.

Slow Groove
- Unless I am mistaken, Slow Groove is very similar to myself in that we both mainly come on here to discuss music. I appreciate this a lot. Similar taste to myself and has improved/gained more confidence as a poster. Keep it up :)

I would do more but my forestated (MAKE THIS A WORD DANGNAMIT!) lack of ability to maintain interest means I have to cut myself off.

wwwp, I have no problem being described as overly sensitive: I know I am but that's how I am. However I take offence at your contention that my posts are inane and mastubatory, whatever that's meant to mean. I personally have no problem with you, so not sure why you are making these comments about me. I don't think I've ever said anything untoward about you. Still, you're entitled to your opinion, but I am disappointed that anyone would see me in that way. Not that I can do anything to change your opinion, and not that it will keep me awake at night, but still, I feel it's unnecessarily harsh.

I appreciate the kind words. Believe me if I could get off my lazy arse and do an updated list you would certainly be on it, with kind words no less. Shame you don't talk as much about film or games as I'm finding those are the two areas I feel like talking about more on this forum at times.

I use those words in speech from time to time, it does not mean I think any less of the severity of the actual meaning. I call friends gay or a *** but do I have any ill feeling against gays? Of coarse not. In fact the few gay guys I know do the same thing.

Just because a word has a bad meaning and connotation doesn;t mean it should never be uttered.

I definitely believe that was the context I said it in, but because I don't know how it effects people personally, I should avoid saying it if possible.
