As I said before, the negative comments aimed toward me personally in this thread (including several that have since been deleted) have all been regarding my appearance. The post slamming Vanilla was regarding her appearance. There have been posts about how sexy the women of this forum are countless times, but rarely if ever do you see people saying "Roxy has a great knack for knowing the exact song she should share to hook someone on a band." It's rather "Roxy's foxy." That simply doesn't happen to the men here. And yes, batty, #notallmen, but I'm not the only one who feels this way, I'm just the only one talking about it publicly.

The way I look should not be a point of discussion on a music forum of which I've been a part for nearly six years.

I sincerely appreciate the kind comments I've received over the last few pages and through pm. This forum is a good bunch as a whole, which is why I'm still around. But Freebase, that hurt dude. And I've lost respect for you as a friend and a person.

For the most part, comments about people's looks happen in the MB Picture Gallery. And yeah, it's mostly directed toward the girls, but otherwise, it's not really much of a thing. On the rest of the forum, people generally talk about Vanilla's obsession with Lady Gaga, or misspoptart listening to pop, or you having a band (although, unless I'm missing most of your posts, a high percentage of them are in the Picture Gallery these days, so maybe it shouldn't be surprising if people aren't talking as much about your music taste as you might like).

This is a forum of indie kids for god's sake. Guys are gonna be guys to some extent no matter how PC they are, but half of the people here are probably as PC as you're gonna get outside of a feminist forum. If you feel objectified on this of all sites, then I don't know what to tell you.

Edit: And now that I think about it, I think the Picture Gallery thing might even be bull****. Guys are always getting complimented on there.

Did that dude/chick really just get offended over my high self esteem? Its not like I put down others. Straight up sounds jealous.

Also just a note of philosophy, I'd personally rather hear people say how great they think they are than how little they think of themselves. I think I generally get along better with people who actually like who they are. Low self esteem is ****in annoying.

I think you are beautiful Steph! I also think you complimented my musical taste! thank you.</3.

That was a compliment right?!

Vanilla objectifies men all the time. :P

She's a horndog.

"What you really think about forum members" sounds like something negative and therefore sounds like something I would like to read. If I wanted to read threads in which you all love each other crazily I would....I guess just click on any other thread.

I see your point Miss P.

Point is though, as I see it, what you actually post on this board is fair game in this thread, if people take issue with it then fine, I don't think any of us have a problem with us being called out if we talk shite.

Telling posters they look like a 'tranny' or better as a woman is not on really.

I could not agree with this less. Telling people what you think of them is one thing, straight up insults based on nothing more than looks is another entirely. I don't believe anyone has the right to be insulting other members and if this was any other thread that would be possible cause for banning, mod or no mod, drink or no drink. You can't excuse that sort of behaviour and you can't allow it on the basis it creates "drama". It's pure bad manners and nastiness, and at a minimum, two people's feelings have been hurt here unnecessarily.

I'm just happy I don't know Freebase or Manky well enough to earn a mention.

Vanilla objectifies men in a joking way; she never seeks to hurt anyone. There's a massive difference, and I don't care what you say, a woman takes it worse. Tell a guy he's ugly, we get over it. Tell a woman she's ugly and it can really be taken to heart. Not that I'm saying that Vanilla does or is, but she may, and Steph obviously did. Two wrongs do not make a right.

DwnWthVwls 11-28-2014 12:28 PM

I put the :P so you'd know I was joking. That wasn't enough I guess.

I've never seen a male member seeking to hurt a female member with comments outside of this thread.

Pet_Sounds 11-28-2014 12:35 PM

TBH, anytime a man insults a lady, even in SYG, I lose all respect for him. Not saying it's ban-worthy or anything. I guess I'm just old-fashioned and chivalrous.
