Agreed. I think there's much more value in learning how to understand that other people are going to have opinions or methods that run counter to your own. The less that sort of thing actually affects you, the more independent of other people's opinions you actually are. Avoidance isn't the path to that.

I will listen to an opposing opinion to see how that other person ticks. Even if I don't agree with anything they say. But on the other hand if someone is going to be abrasive, derisive or vulgar those things I can do without. There is hardly any situation you can not learn from, even the jerks of the world can provide inspiration, and that is not to be like them.

I hear you, but on the other hand when it comes to those people who are both annoying and constantly post walls of text, they may be worth putting on ignore for practical reasons.
