Idm?
I'm brand new to this forum, and honestly didn't see an IDM thread, so decided to start a new one. If one already exists, I apologize.
So the masters of IDM (intelligent dance music) are known by many, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Mu-ziq, Autechre. But I'm getting super into some of the lesser known artists. Venetian Snares being my current favorite. Others include are Hrvatski, Datach'i, Doormouse, Jega, edIT, and megaangelo, among many others. Comments or questions are welcome. |

Check into them, it'll be worth it. Square is my personal favorite, but most flock to Twin. Good Twin starter albums are Richard D. James album, Selected Ambient works (either one), and Drukqs.
For Square, check out Hard Normal Daddy, Music is Rotted One Note, Feed me Wierd Things, and Ultravisitor. Muziq: Royal Astronomy, Brace Yourself, Ease Up, Bilious Paths, and Lunatic Harness All good stuff. |

That's understandable. People have heard Twin, and Autechre, probably on an antidrug commercial, or the Pi soundtrack. America's pretty cut off as far as the IDM scene goes, but that's slowly changing.
If anything, try to learn about these artists. Better late than never. |

i've been listening to venetian snares for the past week now. 'die die winnipeg die die die ****ers' is the best driving song ever, though aphex twin's 'ventolin (video version)' is a close second.
such insane bass on both. however, Aaron Funk is definitely recognized as one of the masters of IDM; he is not 'lesser known' to any degree, in my opinion. i would also recommend Plaid and Mouse on Mars. |
