IndiElectronica 10-23-2006 09:43 AM

chicane, ulrigh shnauss, boards of canada are the 3 big name bands I can think of... have another 10 albums of random light stuff that is nice to chill out to.

(i don't fall asleep to music these days... i read a book till i pass out)

cardboard adolescent 10-23-2006 06:57 PM

Stereolab is pretty chill (kinda electronica)

I've been meaning to get more into electronica since I started getting these Wire magazines, they've got a ton of great stuff, but MB isn't really heavy on it, so getting my hands on it might be tricky.

The non electro hardcore stuff from Idiot Pilot is good, I bought their album and then downloaded it onto 2 seperate disks so I could have the hardcore songs on one disk and the electronica ones on the other.

I was going to suggest the same album. I always have the most interesting dreams after I've been listening to Geogaddi.

anything Ambient, Shoegaze, or post-rock is generally pretty promising. I think I've fallen asleep to Loveless more than any other album, with Music For Airports getting a lot of plays as well.

No, the vocals alone are enough to keep me away from sleep.

Anyway basically what cardboard said, I usually sleep to Sigur Ros.

Wow, just wow. If you're going to pretend to like a band for cred or whatever you could at least listen to them once or twice to make sure you have a vague idea of what they sound like. Turn mute off and listen to this wannabe elitist.

Eluvium is really good, but how about Eno?

enemyat_thesix 11-13-2007 08:11 AM

Eluvium tops him, in my opinion, namely in breadth and musicality. Eno's stuff is mostly pads on loop. At least Eluvium adds the classical element to it with his piano.

Touche.

His latest album is really really good. By him, I mean Eluvium.

enemyat_thesix 11-13-2007 08:22 AM

Do you mean Copia? Or his track off his split with Jesu? I didn't care for the latter. "The Well Meaning Professor" is still my favorite song of his. It possesses a majesty unheard of in most modern music.

O'Bannion 11-13-2007 08:46 AM

Copia. I really enjoyed it. Probably in my top 15 or 20 albums of the year so far.

Brock_West 11-13-2007 08:00 PM

Anything by Michael Luckner, Boards of Canada, Ulrich Schnauss, and of course Pink Floyd

DearJenny 11-14-2007 09:49 PM

I dunno, Brian Eno is fine for me. Especially some of the stuff he contributed to 28 Days Later.

An Ending (Ascent), yeah that song is brilliant.

DearJenny 11-15-2007 12:15 PM

^I was disappointed they used the SAME song in 28 Weeks Later.

Very good choice, I listen to them a lot before sleeping as well as a few The Dear Hunter songs, and EITS.

A Posteriori, The 2006 album by Enigma.

Very spacey and (for me) dream inducing...

Dr_Rez 02-10-2008 07:53 PM
