Dubstep! I'm not really aware of the roots of it, I got into it around the time that Midnight Request Line was released and i've been hooked ever since.

I'd highly recommend that mix! It's golden! It's really consistent all the way through, and there are some absolutely brilliant tracks on it. Back In The Day by Benga, Ruff Lovin & Sound Boy by Coki, Lickashot by Tes La Rok in particular.

I hate doing this but can somebody help me ID a track? It was in some sets a couple of years ago and had a vocal that went 'steppin, steppin, steppin outta Babylon' (repeat)... it was like low-end dancehall really.

Safe to say it was probably titled 'Steppin Outta Babylon' or some variation. Twas a skankers!

I got into dubstep through a flatmate who was a grime/dubstep DJ and he played us that, good times. He mixes funky house and bassline now...

I'm not completely against a bit of funky house and bassline! Some of it gets me bouncing

I reckon that CD will be worth sending off for, got some definite good artists on.

Steppin Outta Babylon, Kulture by any chance? I can't find a video of it on its own on youtube, but it's in a mix with some other stuff if you type it in!
Must say, i'd not heard it before, thought i'd have a bash at finding it... Proper skanker!

^ that's the one! Now to soulseek this bitch.

Bassline I can definitely take, I love anything two-step, it's basically just wobblier garage anyway right? Ill-advised attempts to start a niche thread on this forum after getting a bit excited by 'Heartbroken' garnered no response... Anyway I'm a bit too scruffy for the bassline crowd if you know what I mean?

If you like funky there's a mix I upped to the electro-house thread that might interest you.

Can't beat a bit of Niche! I know the feeling of being a bit scruffy for the bassline crowd.. Funny buggers, lot of 'em.

Heartbroken, without your touch? Heartbroken, can't get enough? The wobblier the better!

A funky mix sounds top to me, I'll have a bash at finding it, then I'll come back and ask how instead!

Got a couple of mates that are reallly into bassline, heard quite alot of good stuff, nothing I could put a name to, never took that much of an interest!

*ahem* GigaSize.com: Host and Share your Files
It's a .rar file so you'll need the winRAR program to open it.

Yeah it's all about garage to be honest. I just dug out a double CD of the Pure Silk garage label (£1 from Covent Garden!), you can hear the roots of grime and dubstep in this.

Problem is... listening to this music unable to sit still in a comfy chair at home just makes the old rave urges resurface... definitely a bad thing

Ahhhh, thanks! That could have taken some time... Downloading it now, look forward to it.

Control those urges! At 20 i've only just tarnished mine, terrible stuff!

I've never really gotten into the pure garage stuff, can't even say i'd know where to begin with it. I'd been an indie rock girl for a good few years, only within the past couple i've started looking to other stuff (rave urges!). Dubstep & funky house really caught my ears.
