The Electro-House Thread

So this is pretty much my favorite genre of music, at least for the past several months. Most of it is coming out of Europe, specifically France. Most of you are at least familiar with Justice, but there are hordes of these producers and groups around.

Teenage Bad Girl is nasty as hell. Before a few days ago all I'd heard were their remixes, which were solid. However, their original stuff is even dirtier. I cannot recommend them enough. I'm working on an upload of their LP now; PM me if interested.

MySpace.com - TEENAGE BAD GIRL - Paris, FR - Electro - www.myspace.com/teenagebadgirl

What are you guys' favorite producers/groups? Please limit yourselves to those working within the electro and electro-house genres.

trentonspliff 05-29-2008 11:52 PM

It's so good, it brings tears to my eyes. No sarcasm there, this is awesome, thanks enemyat.
as for the question, my favorite producer/group at the moment is Black Lab with their album "technologie", still blows my mind well produced this stuff is and from THIS group. I love their previous stuff, but I never thought I would post about it here in this forum.

enemyat_thesix 05-30-2008 09:26 AM

i'll have to check out Black Lab, never heard of them

Expletive Deleted 06-04-2008 11:22 PM

Yeah, Teenage Bad Girl's album was probably the most criminally underrated album of 07 in this genre. It come out I think right around the time all the "big" albums in this genre did so it slipped under the radar for most people I guess.

Lately I haven't been enjoying this genre as much, but the past few Institubes releases have been solid. Surkin & Bobmo have been doing this sort of early 90s dance throwback thing, and of course Eurogirls Go To Baltimore has one of my favorite songs of this year, "Freak From Desire" by Round Table Knights.

I've also been into The Black Ghosts (Simon Lord from Simian and another DJ) and Le Le (Parra, the graphic designer, and some friends formed what's basically the Dutch version of TTC).

Molecules 06-22-2008 05:46 PM

great! i have my ex-flatmate's Electro House mixes lying around, shall up some tomorrow. For a while Funky House was taking over (at least in southern England) but that was pants. I like electro house, there's alot of tonal range with all the DJ's involved (like the aforementioned Justice bringing dance music to the scenesters).. will definitely up dem mixes

enemyat_thesix 06-23-2008 11:17 PM

yeah dude, the Black Ghosts are sick. the Whip remix of "Any Way" is killer

you should check out my muxtape, basically all my favorite electro tracks

yowch.muxtape.com

you should check out Headman, too. i downloaded his latest LP after hearing his Chromeo remix, and it is awesome. not electro-house per se, but pumping nonetheless

Molecules 06-24-2008 07:05 AM

one electro house mix by DJ Fubar. contains some classics

So, I take it that ironically, nasty does in fact mean "rather good"? :v

Eh. Electro house is alright. I just listen to some Ed Bangar Records stuff and MSTRKRFT.

Yes. Nasty does mean "rather good". If you like Ed Banger then check out the guys that I posted.

enemyat_thesix 12-03-2008 08:05 PM

Treasure Fingers is alright, though I dig the Lifelike and Chromeo remixes his single more than the original. Computer Club's collab track with Le Castle Vania destroys. Kill the Noise is solid, too; looking forward to an actual release by them.

ployd 12-04-2008 11:43 PM

Yes. Kill The Noise kills it. The Messiah rmx is the effing Jam. And I like the Chromeo rmx of "Cross The Dancefloor" better as well. Dont tell AJ I said that :P Check out some of Treasure Fingers other tracks. I actually like them alot more then Cross The Dancefloor. That was one of his first tunes.

Heres a Fun fact or two that you may or may not know

The voice on Messiah rmx is actually Mike from Computer Club and not taken from the original "Messiah"

Mike from Computer Club is actually Mike from Evol Intent Evol Intent

Treasure Fingers is AJ from Evol Intent ;)

enemyat_thesix 12-05-2008 09:12 PM

what voice on Messiah? just the "Woahhhhhh" ?

ployd 12-06-2008 09:52 PM

yeah. The AAAHHHHHHHHHH part.

ostralek 12-09-2008 08:20 PM

I'd rather use the word "fierce" to describe it!

For everybody that likes Justice, definitely one of my favorites, I post a concert critique that i have written about the concert they gave last February in Cologne/Germany to give all interested people out there an impression what they are all about! the whole event was f*****g awesome!!!!

Back in the year 2003 the European club scene experienced the new sound of the song “Because we’re your friends”. Two French graphic design students had taken this old song of a British band to reface it much more electronically and participated in the remix competition of a Paris radio station. It was not long until the fascinated fans of electronic music demanded to hear more from the since then unknown electro duo from France.
It took Pedro Winter, the CEO of Ed Bangers labels, not long until he recognized the immense potential of the two French students. Winter, also manager of famous groups like Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers, made the two citizens of Paris famous and a lot of insiders suppose them to be the successor of the mentioned bands. During their World Tour 2008 the duo stopped in Cologne with the intention to impress the German audience.
As location a former factory site was chosen and it seemed that this was the ideal place for a Justice show. Like from the altar in a church the two French guys, Auge Gaspard and Rosnay Xavier, deliver their electric sound to the fascinated crowd in the “E-Werk’’ in Cologne. In the background of the stage scene shines up a big cross, one of the most evident characteristics in a show of the French duo. The appearance of a big, shiny cross in their stage show derives from their point of view that music has replaced the position and importance of the church for many members of the younger generation.
Right before the appearance of the two French newcomers, DJ Mehdi has the task to heat up the gathering of people in the E-Werk. Also an important member of the French music scene it was him, who made helped the two guys to grow popular by making them preband on his concerts years before. Now that the situation is vice versa, DJ Mehdi does a great job in preparing the fans for the main gig. With a mixture of good house and rock tones he hits exactly the taste of the crowd. But then it was up to the two main actors of the evening to present their fresh mix of house, funk and rock flavored with background tones of baroque classical music and the voices of churchs.Right after DJ Mehdi brought the atmosphere to boil the two superstars appear on the stage.
The crowd is completely excited at this moment and their principal demand is to hear over and over again the most famous song ‘’Never be alone”. The two musicians agree to this wish by playing the catchy tune twice in during the turn of the concert. The popularity of this song maybe derives from the interesting text integrated into it, because in my opinion there are much better songs from this freaky French electric duo. The performance and sound of the song Genesis was in my eyes the absolute highlight of the amazing show. For about an hour the group offers their enthusiastic supporters the finest music out of their repertoire of electric beats. Among the fans you can see lots of people wearing the typical ‘’Justice’’ style outfits with old leather jackets and 70’s pilot glasses.

Thats it hope u enjoyed it a bit! let me know what u think about it and how much u like Justice!

Doni 12-29-2008 03:01 PM

hey I've got a semi electro house track called "lift it up" on my proflie... although it might be more discocheese than electro, but anyways, I love that dirty electro sound. Anthony Rother is easily the best

Molecules 01-23-2009 01:39 PM

*BUMP*

Posted this before but I'm really digging it again so here is electro house in the mix proper (by an old flatmate) - sound quality is top and it's separated into tracks, all properly tagged. Good music if you're getting ready to go out :tramp:

It's a year and a bit old now I think so it's a bit of a step back but what the hell

jackhammer 01-23-2009 03:56 PM

THLC 01-28-2009 01:21 PM

I'm not sure I can post links yet but these guys are pretty alright:

Sanchez and the Shockers.. Based in Nashville.. there's a track called Liquorice Latex that I believe to be "Superior"

I think they've got a myspace account and are on the Impropa Talent label or the what not.

Shoe 08-17-2009 03:51 PM

I just got into the genre today and I am loving what I am hearing. Can I get some linkies to great albums please?

IWP 08-22-2009 12:54 AM

I'm ****ing hooked on Benny Benassi man! Justice and Daft Punk are cool too.

sakana 08-28-2009 04:20 AM

France has definatly had some of the best tracks Ive heard in the last year or so. Digitalism especially Pogo(Shinichi Osawa remix) Boyz Noize too, all the guys on the Kitsune label. I have posted in other threads before, but Japan is up and coming Shinichi Osawa and Dexpistols have an exponetially growing fan base. If you like this type of music you should definatly check out Steve Aoki too.

CanwllCorfe 08-31-2009 08:42 PM

I have been getting into electro house quite a bit lately.. although I am more interested in electro, they are both very interesting genres. I'm quite a fan of Fukkk Offf, Wolfgang Gartner, D'Azoo at Night, and Waveboy. I'll make a RAR too! :D I'll throw in some electro and fidget house too.. just to cover the bases. I'll post it in the Mixtape thread

yea i'm a big fan of steve aoki, though i admit i haven't really listened to much else from japan. those two you suggested sound good, also just stumbled across 80kidz, sounds pretty rockin.

Dim Mak 09-02-2009 09:07 AM

Glad you like the sound Sakana. Japanese electro has a lot elasticity. Most times its very experimental. Id say they're more known for their tech/minimal music more though. Of course this is just one opinion. Either way their's never a dull moment on the weekend in Tokyo.

HeartsandHands 09-05-2009 03:55 PM

To add to the list of electro groups,
there are still a lot of American electro that fill
keep a fresh sound pumping while still having that electro, pop.
(pun intended)

Memory Tapes,
Passion Pit (More like the Reeling and some others)
Wallpaper
Some of The xx

Cheers Molecules, nowadays I can't think of anything better than some filthy electro house while I'm in here. Was listening to some this morning, and I fell in love with it all over again. :D

edit: at the time I didn't think your original post was from January, sorry.

yeah the absence of substances and nightlife for me these days is often in danger of making this stuff redundant, but it's good to study and have a little mini-rave to =P

part 1
part 2

Made another RAR! Filled to the brim with Electro. I wish I knew if there was a name for this stuff cause it seems more aggressive than the usual stuff. Except for the Calabria bootleg.. that one is Electro House.

Download

Dieselboy 12-01-2009 10:46 PM
