Man I really want to see these guys live! There are rumours that they are going to start touring again late 2010 and God I hope they're true.

I think Daft Punk are writing the soundtrack for Disney's Tron Legacy. If that's the case then it looks like we'll get some new material soonish

Such a damn shame that everyone goes dolally about this band when in the scheme of things they are quite average. Far better bands out there who are fun.

o cmon jackhammer, DP brings the 'fun'. here is a clip from them as infants, before they even released their first studio album.



so the first album, homework, that DP put out is very refreshing house album. around the world is a ****ing bombtastic single even if it was overplayed to death in the 90's. then you have something like rollin' and scratchin' which is a beautiful erratic techno minimalism track, one of my personal favorites. they even take the time to dedicate a song to the artist who turned them into the musicians they are. while looking for a label to produce them, here are comments from the duo.

Many record companies offered us deals. They came from everywhere, but we decided to wait--partly because we didn't want to lose control of what we had created. We turned down many record companies. We weren't interested in the money, so we turned down labels that were looking for more control than we were willing to give up. In reality, we're more like partners with Virgin.

We've got much more control than money. You can't get everything. We live in a society where money is what people want, so they can't get the control. We chose. Control is freedom. People say we're control freaks, but control is controlling your destiny without controlling other people. We're not trying to manipulate other people, just controlling what we do ourselves. Controlling what we do is being free. People should stop thinking that an artist that controls what he does is a bad thing. A lot of artists today are just victims, not having control, and they're not free. And that's pathetic. If you start being dependent on money, then money has to reach a point to fit your expenses

sign me up for the artist who cares more about artistic freedom than their bank account.

next you move onto discovery. this is full of great tracks and has an original disco/funk/electro-pop sound. it is at this point DP decides to go with a radical concept. first, they wanna team up with a renowned japanimation artist (whom they favour) and produce a movie synced to their second album. secondly, they decide they are going to take on the presona of robots, in part to seperate the music from the men. all subsequent interviews, public appearances, and live shows are done in full blown robot costomes.

now while i will admit human after all is not gods gift to electronic music, it still proves to be a decent album with some highlights. now this would be exactly where it would be easiest to critize the band for being 'average', but before you get excited you have to take a look at what has happened since the album was released. they go on an AMAZING tour in which they REMIX all their old songs with all their new songs... and its just really ****ing good. i could go into the glitz and glam of the badass pyramid, and crazy sets of robot suits, but in reality the music on alive 2007 is enough. see for yourself.



so while im sure cassius and le peuple may be 'fun', they arnt quite as 'fun' as daft punk; and by no means are daft punk just some mediocore sounding house band. i mean better than anything ever put out by plenty of the genres big names (tiesto comes to mind...)
