I've given up on any of the REAL popular producers because to stay afloat they've been combining Electro and House. Tiesto doesn't even hide it. Ferry Corsten is staying closer to the true Trance scene but that's not to say Armin's show doesn't have quality stuff. Call of Loneliness is probably one of the greatest songs I've heard in some time. It walks the line between progressive and epic so well.

There definetly is a trance scene over there. I'm not sure wither it's your direction or canada's (pretty sure it's canada actually) but wherever it is, has an awesome scene. I'm pretty sure Deadmau5 is from there. Ever noticed how dj's are almost always from the Netherlands?

wickedlk 01-08-2010 11:42 AM

I always thought Trance was a little more underground across the pond. I imagine there to be a fairly strong following as there are a fair few decent American producers knocking around. I think a lot of the big names on the European scene also gig over in the states occasionally too!

i have no idea why Dutch DJs dominate. Probably to do with culture :s I'm not complaining though as long as they keep being awesome!

Ohhhh yes. Ferry Corsten, Rank 1, Joop, Rotterdam Terror Corps, Marcel Woods, Armin van Buuren, Misja Helsloot, Zany, Randy Katana, Junkie XL, DJ B-Front, Noisecontrollers, Marco V, Ron van Den Beuken, Walt Jenssen, John Marks, Neophyte, Jan Oostdyk, Sander van Dien, DJ Rob, Ummet Ozcan, Sander Kleinenberg, A-Lusion, Bas & Ram, Carlo Resoort a.k.a. 4 Strings, Jorn van Deynhoven, Joost van der Vleuten, Mark Norman (Mark de Jong and Norman Lenden), Maarten de Jong, Dash Berlin, DJ Thera, First State, Geck-O.. oh and Tiesto :p: ALL Dutch. We don't have a trance scene her really. Deadmau5 is indeed from Canada but since he's like.. minimal electro/house or something weird like that he's popular here. House and minimal is usually what gets played if there's any electronic music at all. Then again that's what's popular right now so we probably just listen to whatever is "in". Back in the day I remember going into Abercrombie and hearing trance, definitely not anymore. Strictly house and maybe some dance

Yeah we do indeed! Breakfast, Avenger, George Acosta, DJ Eco, Filo & Peri, Gabriel & Dresden, Redstar, and Sean Tyas.. but he moved to Sweden. I agree about the Dutchness stuff.. as long as there's good stuff coming then I'm happy!

FETCHER. 01-13-2010 05:08 PM

Haha, yeah. I always knew there was a ****load of Dutch dj's. They dominate the full scene.

Deadmau5 is indeed House music. But as all individual movements influence each other, I thought there would be a underlying Trance scene. I'm not from the place, so I wouldn't know :o:

I've been following these guys around for a little (another act to add to the U.S. list) bit and I came across this...

Definitely on my radar and now hoping Tritonal come to the UK this year...

Yeah they're fantastic  I can't believe they're from Texas of all places! I guess it's wrong to make assumptions but still

Equinox 03-10-2010 09:59 AM

Ive always had a soft spot for trance, it can be some of the most energetic/emotional music out there. Kinda wanted to expand my tastes in it though, right now I listen to Infected Mushroom(fav group), Hallucinogen and Ferry Corsten...and of course Deadmau5 =P

Also...the track: My head feels like a frisbee - Shpongle
is sick

Just something to check out.

bubu 03-10-2010 10:53 AM

I'm sure there are bands for everyone as even though I hate trance for being so repetitive and dull I still like a few bands like Faithless.

FETCHER. 03-10-2010 01:41 PM

^ strongly disagree.

Trance is not repetitive and dull. I know trance songs that make me feel like i can do ANYTHING. Its sad you think that.

Only some artists ended up becoming ceeshy.. and what do you mean amateurish? Aly & Fila haven't changed, Ferry Corsten hasn't changed, and artists like Bjorn Akesson and Daniel Kandi came out who are both incredible. Not all Trance songs were amazing before 03. There was just as much ****ty commercial stuff coming out then. Trance was at its peak back around that time so if anything, it's not as commercial now.

Huge artists like Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, and especially Tiesto have definitely changed their styles but they were all commercial since the mid 90s anyway.

tranceCo 05-06-2010 04:56 PM

oh yeah i have been into it since '99 and it's hard when u live in a small place because no one knows what the heck you are talking about i agree i just look the other way when they say something that is just completely off track. lol

I found some new stuff that I like on soundcloud(.) com have u heard of it or checked it out? it's a really good place to find some great tracks. i found a couple of artist on there that i like especially this chick: soundcloud(.)com/seeleysgirl take out the parentheses to make it work

she seems to do a ton of covers but her work is great not to mention her voice...i dunno just thought i would share what i found

I so feel you bro, I cant stop listening to it, I am 19 years old and have been in love with Trance since I was about 10 years old. It is always on in my room, 24/7, trance.fm never goes off and the volume never goes down. I cant possibly express how it makes me feel other than I feel so relaxed and all my worries just go away, it is my drug. Trance, one love.

I can totally relate, ever since I started getting into it about 2 years ago I can't get enough. I'v tryed getting my freinds to listen to it, but the usual response goes something like "Uggghhhh, It's sooo repetitive-TURN IT OFF!"
But I love the stuff so I just lol@them.

Scarlett O'Hara 09-23-2012 05:42 AM

I've got the most intense trance records. Here is a good hard trance mix:

I am orgasming it's so delicious....

Beckistar123 09-25-2012 03:24 AM

Trance has been my religion since about the same time - Darude etc - AKA 1999/2000. Have always listened to "a state of trance" or techno trance albums. I find it really uplifting and it seems (go with me on this one) really emotionally deep.

Ahh Hard Trance! I used to be a big fan of Hard Trance. Nowadays, for me, it's been replaced by the more aggressive, but still melodic, Hardstyle.

FETCHER. 09-26-2012 02:08 PM

Never really been into hard trance to be honest. This is more my style of Trance.

wickedlk 09-28-2012 01:21 PM

So many sub genres that each have their time and place. For me, trance has always been about uplifting euphoria.

WhOoSh 09-30-2012 02:14 PM

Like Trance

As the name suggests I get into that place. A great way to forget the world and it's various problems for a short time.

So you would like a mix like this then?

This describes my Trance taste, I like it hard and nasty. I on the other hand like chillstep too.

<-Sex on legs.

FETCHER. 10-06-2012 04:07 AM

YES! I mean don't get me wrong when it comes to techno and electro nobody likes a filthier beat than me :D I'm constantly trying to figure out trance because I've never really been consistent in liking much more than a few songs from each artist.

I will listen to those songs later and let you know what I think. Because I am downloading just now :P

Wendel Kos - Restlessness, Thomas Schwartz - Jupiter Calling (Vocal Mix), Radiohead - House Of Cards (Solarstone Subterranean Mix), Chris Lake - Sundown, Julie Thompson - Something To You ... and the list could go on! :)

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-06-2012 05:53 AM

wow it's even bigger now

Scarlett O'Hara 10-06-2012 05:58 AM

It needs to be bigger, just so I will feel like visiting it more.

RVCA 10-06-2012 12:19 PM

Oh, perfect. I was just coming to the Electronica subforum to ask for some trance-based recommendations.

I'm looking for stuff like this:

My favorite electronic song. I love the industrial feel and the trancey-ness.

wickedlk 10-13-2012 03:29 AM

Anybody else seen this? Not exactly heavy hitting but I found it quite interesting. Guetta come across as right weirdo in this. My guess is that Armin is likely to reclaim his no.1 spot judging by the MoS lineup.

wickedlk 09-15-2013 01:58 AM

Mmmm. This production has stayed with me all, just lush (breakdown begins at 1.55 and never ends). If all trance was like this, I would be a happy man.

If this floats your boat, maybe check out Apprehension (aly and fila remix). It's another dreamy breakdown.

yorgaraz 09-26-2013 01:41 PM

trance is my life (Y)

deFeatt 09-30-2013 04:51 PM

Trance is best music

allisonivy 10-03-2013 03:07 PM

"It's kinda hard to talk to anyone about it cause I live in a tiny town so if I ever mention it, someone always responds yeah!! Like Sandstorm and Zombie Nation! and I just put my head in my hands and walk away." Haha!

Trance has always been the music that I can sink right into....it always spoke to me. Sort of like, if you had to pick a type of music that sounded like you, that was it. But I also like very chill beats ... trance like, but a little, um, more contemporary? I dont know if there is a genre. My genre? haha

Umm I'm not knowledgable on technical terms .. I like euphoric stuff, with beautiful voices ... but nothing thats too typical and drones on ... I like when an instrument is woven in there somehow like a guitar or piano .. exotic sometimes .. I'm really into the sounds of Arty, John Ocal, A&B (oceanlab), Acosta, Armin Sunlounger, Massive Attack, BT, Jody Wist, Audien .. More chill I like Blackmill, Aphex Twin, Dinka, Cora Novoa, Deadmau5, and I love Kaskade, always have .... Adam K and Soha.. on and on and on....

William_the_Bloody 10-12-2013 12:32 AM

Love some good dark Psych trance.

Mr. Charlie 10-16-2013 09:01 AM

I adored trance music. Indeed from the mid nineties to the turn of millenium all I ever listened to was trance (that was rather narrow minded and somewhat obsessive compulsive in hindsight). Drugs, raves and psychedelic trance music, that was all I wanted and that's all I did. I don't listen to nearly as much trance anymore as my eyes have been opened to all the other great music that's around, but it still does and always will have a special place in my heart.

Aux-In 01-28-2015 05:30 PM

I am mostly a vocal person, but if I have to go instrumental, I go with Trance over the other genres of electronic music.

Prefer female vocals:

Aux-In 03-08-2015 07:30 AM

Been spinnin' this all morning:

Title: "Undo The Silence"
Producer: Pulser
Vocalist: Josie
Label: Maelstrom Records
Genre: Vocal Trance

A rare and largely undiscovered track.

Music-Fanatic 03-08-2015 03:34 PM

Never really been a trance fanatic due to the long build ups, which I find quite boring lol but this is a track I always remember from the Trancemaster albums...

TheMainMan 03-16-2015 04:42 PM

gotta love some good ol hard trance music.
Especially from technikal

gandhara 03-21-2015 03:30 AM

Im into classic 90's Progressive & Hard Trance, nothing after around 2001 though.. i stick to the early Trance stuff. Latest I'll go is Rank 1 "Airwave" and Tomski "Love Will Come" and a few others from 2000. After that the music didn't feel the same :)
