i've found myself lately listening to a lot of late 90s/early 2000s trance music, especially the Dutch stuff. its rather enjoyable after a hiatus from it all. it got a bit out of hand there for a second. genre cleaned up nice though.

ahh yeah those were the golden days as its called, when it was at its height of popularity. but yeah the dutch are the absolute controllers of it. Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Rank 1, Sander Kleinenberg, Randy Katana, Joop, Armin van Buuren, Junkie XL, Marco V, Ron van Den Beuken, Sander van Doorn, 4 Strings aka Carlo Resoort, Sied van Riel, Johan Gielen, Woody van Eyden, Dash Berlin, Phynn, Mark Norman, Cliff Coenraad, Matthew Dekay, Galen Behr, Ernesto vs. Bastian, Cor Fijneman, Jorn van Deynhoven, ...ALL dutch

Generally speaking, I hate trance. In my clubbing days, I would get in a very bad mood if trance came on. Not like an angry mood, just depressed or something. When I was out, I wanted to hear something upbeat.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I still think Tiesto is one of the best trance DJs to date.

haha yeah trance has a lot of emotional expression, much more than other electronic genres. not saying other ones aren't emotionally expressive but for awhile there was this string of songs with kinda depressing lyrics by all the big producers. Nic Chagall - What You Need : "Empty silence, you were never there, in your own space, now i can see, you didn't ever care". Ben Gold - Say the Words : "Dial the number that I've left you, don't let the baby in the room, she's too young she'll scar for life, it's not her fault, it's not her time. I guess this is really it now. well I've never been so scared
But I think I can see the clouds now" ..the full version by Senadee is completely obvious that it's about suicide. ATB - Wrong Medication : "I’m barely breathing. don’t you look at me this way, don’t count on me count on me. I’m barely breathing, I’m so out of sleep, so don’t you count on me, count on me". Paul van Dyk - Let Go : "You say that you haunt me. but you don't really know. You're clinging to fingers, but you got to let go. If you wanna try and save me, then take my heart and hate me. If you feel you can't let go, let go" .

and yeah Tiesto is very very good but some of the tracks he plays are a bit too house-y for me

Hi all.I started to listen to trance bout 10 years ago give or take, first buying Paul Oakenfolds-Traneport cd which will always be in my favs collection.I later found out about the Global underground series of compilations which imho cant be matched by any other compilation series of Trance music although i do think in the later series the of discs some are pretty poor.I highly recommend G.U. San francisco by Sasha.

Kidd Kaos just released a pack of 26 songs straight off his website that up to this point are unreleased. His stuff is the epitome of hard tech.

Enjoy

I've always been partial to Above and Beyond, as well as Foggy
