Drum & Bass thread

hey guys

tell us your favourite D&B artist/DJ/CD/album

Let's get the discussion going

Freebase Dali 03-17-2009 07:19 PM

Yay!

Noisia (obviously)
Vicious Circle
Spor
Desimal
Audio
Cause 4 Concern

Etc...
You get my drift.

Molecules 03-17-2009 08:44 PM

hmm... would be hard pressed to point out individual artists but I have not heard much D 'n B post-jungle that gets me going, it's all gotten a bit artificial... Unless you can post some videos to convince me otherwise :D

I used to have the classic Jungle Massiv comp mixed by DJ Hype but lent it out and never saw it again :( so any help with this stuff would be greatly appreciated
LTJ Bukem was the shizz too, alot more cerebral and ambient though.

Oh and if anyone even tries to say Pendulum in this thread, gtfo :p:

All the drum and bass i've heard is too derivative. Gimme moar!

Noisia are pretty sick. Everything, from the production to the beats/bass are right about them. Some of it has this 'trance/house' sort of effect without sounding commercial, and some of it is just strait up badass D n B.

Spor always had some stuff worth checking out too. He does this 'dark' funky sound pretty well.

Try these too anyways -

London Electricity
Teebee
High Contrast
Adam F
Dillinja

And what are these 'compilations' some of you keep talking about?! I'd love to hear them.

Freebase Dali 03-17-2009 11:22 PM

I can't say enough about Calyx & Teebee. They make some epic D&B.
Dillinja, he was up there with the cats who got me listening to D&B, along with Skynet and, at the time, Bad Company who, because of copyright sh!t had to change to )EIB(.

I don't like High Contrast much, but I always respect the skill.

Adam F is a given. LE I haven't gotten into much.

I'd suggest looking into Calyx & Teebee for some thick D&B. They take care of your melodic side and your dark side and twist it into something unrecognizable. I love them for that.

Veridical should put his DnB mix he sent me up in this thread- it's excellent. A great label is Hospital Records who specialise in DnB and some of my faves like London Elektricity and High Contrast are on there.

Definatly! I'd love to check that out too.

Lotta good names thrown out here. I'll add Dieselboy just cause..you know.. :)
Also, think I mentioned this in another thread, but I'm hella pumped for they new Lynx album called Raw Power. Comes out in June I think...can't wait.

ManFromTheFuture 04-14-2009 03:29 PM

Hospital Records are from my manor and they do knock out some great stuff like Cyantific, London Elektricity, Landslide and their star man High Contrast all worth checking out.

Klute makes great dark Techno D&B, recommended

Alaska (aka Paradox) makes great old style D&B Artic Foundations is a great album same with Breakage.

My personal Favorite is Calibre any album by this Irish guy just hits the spot with me. He is also on an album under the guise of Mistical called The Eleventh Hour which is superb.

And a honourable mention to the controversial Pendulum you either love them or hate 'em I think they are great.

Dieselboy 04-14-2009 05:02 PM

Yeah Pendulum is still cool in my book. Don't care if they are "real" dnb or not, whatever, they rock.

Agree about Calibre too, guys amazing :)
